It's wonderful. Now I just weigh ~725g coir, add 1gal hot tap water. Scoop out ~600g once hydrated for the top layer before mixing in 1/2bag o spawn. Press firmly and tuck edges tightly. Ignore till harvest.
I confess tonight I begin using liners

Jesus I can't believe you're using a gallon of water. I use 2.5qts per 650g brick.

Tbf, he did say a gallon for 725g, which comes to 3.6qt for 650g, but still that is a lot of water. I'm with you at 2.6qt (2600mL to be exact).

I use 3,5 liters of water for 650 grams of coir and also add 3 liters of verm. No matter the brand of coir I use, that mix always ends up being on the wetter side of FC. I honestly don't get how some people can use +4 quarts of water without ruining the sub.

Depends somewhat on the grade of the verm and how coarse the shred on the coir is. I use 5.333 litres of water to a canna coir brick and 3 quarts verm. Expands to about 13-14 litres of media and is even a touch on the dry side.

I do one gallon water per coir brick. No verm. Or if use the 5kilo bricks, 7 gallons of water.

If all you use is 3.5 litres of water and a stellar culture can move 75% of it into fruits first flush, by shorting the water to 3.5 litres you ensure the biggest yield you can pull first flush is around 2850 grams wet. Not bad but there is no way in hell could I have pulled those 3300+ wet yields with my F2 clone back in the day if I was shorting the water the way you guys are.

You have a point. It's not frequent I run across a stellar culture but I must admit I'm a fan of bottom watering if a prolific culture calls for it. Regardless, now I'm a bit curious and will be upping the water content from 3,5 to 4 liters next time for science and shit.

I confess words cant describe how happy I was to find a fat little agar pin in a dish from a melmac swab Ive been working on for months.. I was totally convinced from the growth I was seeing that it was some kinda unwanted contamination mold I was "working" on...haha Its now resting on a fresh plate and hopefully soon Ill be able to put something decent to grain
