They don't faint, have a genetic disease that causes all their muscles to go completely rigid when they are startled. It's kind of sickening to keep breeding them for that trait.

Yeah I looked into it and read about that chloride build up and assumed they didn't actually "faint" which does seem like a terrifying life to live. I guess we keep them around as meat goats which is odd cause they are so small. The breed should probably die off.

It said they are indigenous to Americas, thats a good reason to keep them, screw European goats, (even though I have 4)

I read (wiki) they were bred in the 1800 in tennesee. Or are they naturally occurring? I didn't research much more than wiki and a nat geo article.

I went to a geyser in Cali awhile back that had fainting goats on the property. They had signs up around the cage not to startle the goats. I was there for probably 30 minutes and saw 3 different groups of people run or yell at the goats and make them drop

Without the sign, people might have assumed they were regular goats.

Pretty fucked up. If I were the farmer I would (not have retarded goats firstly) not stand for people startling my animals.

Well you know the old adage.. "If at first you don't succeed burn all evidence of failure". Something like that.
