Monotub substrate spots forming, they look grayish / blue.. thoughts
    #26939399 - 09/16/20 04:32 PM (3 years, 4 months ago)

These spots just started to show. They have a blueish tint. Tub has never been misted, substrate conditions look great other than this new anomaly.  Any thoughts from the experts about what this is?

Yeah that definitely doesn't look like it needs misting, has a great amount of water beads.

It's more than likely just some bruising going on from water droplets falling on the mycelium from the lid of the tub.

Just keep doing what you're doing and see how it looks in the near future, you'll definitely be able to tell if it's contamination by then, but I wouldn't be too worried.

The mycelium looks extra fuzzy to me which can indicate too much CO2 build up. Again, don't quote me on this but to the best of my knowledge that definitely seems like a possibility.

In the last pic, that spot almost looks more green to me.  Does it look that way at all to you?

Thanks for confirming. Im not going to try any mitigation on this. Hope my other b+ tub is able to avoid this. Side note, this tub had a certain strong musk smell that the others don't have.
