Emerging contam: what would you do?

I'm totally bummed out but trying to stay hopeful here. This is my first monotub and all was going fine until today. A few weeks ago I spawned grain to substrate (1:3 ratio) and it colonized nicely with no signs of contamination. A few days ago I opened the tub, put down a casing layer of coco coir, and misted it, and the top has been mostly closed since then. Earlier today i noticed a slight discoloration right in the middle of my substrate, and now a few hours later I can see some trichoderma mold I'm pretty sure.
Should I have sterilized the coco coir before applying? I followed a tek that used it right out of the bag. Assuming the contam originated in the coir, should I try to remove some or all of it? Though once it's in there...it's in there for good pretty much right?
What would you do? Spray with alcohol or hydrogen peroxide and hope for the best?

The contam was in your spawn. You don’t need to sterilize coir ever. That said, sterilized material (typically not coir but nutritious things like manure/grain/bran) will contaminate instantly if exposed to open air.

Don't spray it with anything, toss it outside, you don't want mold in your house.

Nooooo seriously? Toss the whole thing?
I know, LC or agar is ideal and I want to graduate to that next, but FYI I used a MS syringe to inoculate a pre-sterilized grain bag and spawned to pre-sterilized casing substrate - all from sponsors. Still think it's from the spawn?

It’s agains the rules to drop sponsor names in your posts when cultivating. Edit your post to remove. Spores are dirty, regardless of where they come from and cultures should be cleaned up on agar.

You can get away with spores to grain here and there but it’s a roll of the dice. Get some agar and you’ll be rewarded.

Update: This thread was going on right as I was about to head out of town for a long weekend so I said screw it and left the thing alone. Figured I'd come home to a tub of the mean green and then I'd carefully dispose of it when I had more time.
However, this is what I came home to 5 days later. The myc appears to have put up a pretty good fight but has stalled a bit in some areas, side pinning as well, both of which are obvious signs of contamination. I know the trich will never be completely gone, but is it worth introducing some FAE and seeing where it goes? I've had the lid cracked since yesterday.
I haven't messed with it at all in terms of trying to remove any of the green since the myc seems to be kicking its ass. Though if that would help, I certainly can.

Wow, lucky!
Yeah if you don't see spores and it doesn't smell all musty I don't see anything to worry about letting it keep trying to fruit. Just keep a close eye on it.

Update #2: Going strong. No visible contams but clearly the myc stopped colonizing about half of the surface of the sub. Some will definitely be ready to pick well before others - since they're all on different timelines I'm planning to pick them as they're ready.
I'll probably rehydrate after this flush and hopefully the myc will continue to colonize the rest of the "virgin" coir.

More often than not, once the green pops up, it expands rapidly. Glad that wasn’t the case!
