ou should get back into it man
I quit golfing because my golfing partner decided he enjoyed drinking more than playing actual golf. Most of our rounds ended up finishing on the 11th hole towards the end, one time we didn't even finish the front side before he was asleep in the cart. Unfortunately said golfing partner died of acute liver failure due to his alcoholism just a few years later. I dont really enjoy playing by myself at all.
He was also one of my closest friends since high school and the person who really got me involved with the sport in the first place. When i was playing every day and a muni course member, i was playing at a 15-17 HCAP which i was pretty damn proud of considering I am all self taught via magazines, books, and youtube / golf channel. My other friends who play often play during the middle of the week in the morning and my work schedule doesnt allow for it. Not to mention its still hard breaking the association of the game to my friend, often when i think of walking 9 i end up thinking about him and it generally leaves me not wanting to play shortly after.
I am thinking next year though I am going to at least hit the range once a week and get back into hitting balls again. Even if i never hit the course again, smashing 300 yard drives or laying 100 yard wedge shots pin tight still feels great. Plus my local place is pretty gorgeous and cheap and has an amazing putting green to practice on.

I used to think golf was meant for certain "types", but then i golfed with a bunch of blue collar rednecks and fell in love with the game.
This!
They had a tournament at one of the par three courses strictly for those types of people when I was up in Ohio.
You had to wear work boots, drink a beer a hole for 18 holes, and you only got to choose three clubs to take with you.

hahah that sounds like a whole lot of fun, except i dont drink so i couldn't play lol Even when i was "drinking" if had more than 2 beers over a round that was a heavy day. I much prefer water on the course and a beer at the end.
my local muni ran a weekly 9 hole scramble on friday at twilight. First time i played i was stupid nervous until one of the guys just stops his cart in the middle of the first fairway, hops out, unzips and starts to take a massive horse piss. No one blinked an eye and i learned not to be nervous haha
