Yes Shroomerdean...I've seen them like that beffore, almost curling upwards. I'd be tempted to say they're all libs as they seem to have nipples and pellicles...especially if they all have that clammy, moist, almost fudgy texture and noodle stalk. 4th from right deffo is...but I'd be tempted to say they all are. Amazes me how much they can vary in appearance. I wonder if there are maybe subtle regional / habitat variations.

Hi Folks, Wasn't expecting too be finding any joy this early on. Especially due to a recent rise in temps again. Was out on the bike this morning and i went past a field i thought looked fairly promising, had a quick glance inside and couldn't see naught. I stumbled by an electric wire post and something caught my eye so i went over for a closer peak and there were my first liberty caps of 2020. I had a peak the other week in one of my other spots but had no joy even though temps were much better then. After i found that little first patch of them about 5 odd i couldn't see anymore in the proximity and so i thought id try the next field and there was no gate just an opening too walk through and as i got in there they just kept on appearing, I found the sweet spot. Managed too collect these 200 today in a couple of hours. I had too stop as i wasn't prepared for a hunt today and as a last resort i used my tobacco pouch which did the trick. Another field too the list, something positive for the year thats for sure. Over in south west wales here, not being too specific. I am fairly shocked too have actually found any at all as its nearly 20 degrees today and hotter yesterday. Lucky find, was close too the sea actually, was cycling up a long hill just by the beach so was a fair few metres above sea level but not that high i dont think.

Hello,

First timer here so hoping not to upset anybody, but here's my friend and I's haul from roaming the countryside today.  Most were from a flat green field, but some we found up an old farm path that hadn't been used in quite some time by any vehicle.

I'm guessing the ones with the pink gills will be something else entirely and not worth keeping, for starters?

Many thanks

The ones in the first and eigth picture are all liberty caps, in the ninth picture all but one are liberty caps and contain pychadelic compounds. In the ninth pic i dont know what the fourth mushroom in is with grey gills. I am not sure on all the others although they dont look promising. In the fifth picture all are libs apart from the first one which doesnt look edible.

Damn man you pulled up the “root system/mycelium” in nearly all of them, I done that to a patch of mine years ago and it took a few seasons for the field to produce in high numbers again.. since then I always have a little pair of scissors with me when I’m picking.

Went out again today for an hour as it rained all last night and most of the day.
Loads and loads of pins again - and a few worth picking. Reckon I got about 150 or so.
Hopefully the temperature will stay low and we will get some more rain this week.

Peak District circa 350m.

im as guilty as anyone but....

please don't post ID requests here

please make a separate thread including ID REQUEST in title. you will be more likely to get a Trusted Identifier (TI) to reply and get +ve ID

this thread should just be for finds only and jut reference resource for newbies. its not an ID thread.

with shrooms a little knowledge can defo be dangerous...

create own thread and wait for TI or 2 for confirmation. system ain't perfect but better than listening to anyone on t'internet

sayin that few out yesterday. hoping for more tomoz.

dude its just not true. the productivity of fields from year to year is very variable for huge number of reasons. picking intensity is not likely to be a major factor in the  majority of cases. in fact we may help them to spread  their spores.

reason mushroom pickers use a knife is to avoid collecting dirt alongside mushrooms they intend to consume. if were collecting for ID for some types  of mushroom it would be recommended to take a much stalk/base as possible to assist with ID

for me libs are just too small to ever justify pulling my knife out for

Oh damn.  It was my first ever time, so I really didn't know what I was doing other than a vague idea of all the 'magic' species in the UK to look for.  I will be more careful next time, thanks

Went back to my spot yesterday with another haul, not a close up but that's the haul, about 200 in an hour.

Spotted these in the cricket pitch on my way to work, couple of kids nearby playing so just kind of walked on by. Went and got them after I finished work, must have been 3am, going about with the torch on the phone.

No probs they stood out well good. Would have looked strange if anyone saw though. No moon at all last night either.

Some years they flush in one part of the grass, other years they are in another area. I was getting worried the groundsman was spraying them but seems all is good.

I know there's some knowledgeable folks here so is it an urban myth or do the little ones contain the same amount of psilocybin as the big ones?

According to studies, the smaller ones contain a higher percentage of alkaloids per dried weight, while the larger ones
have a lower percentage but all in all higher content in milligrams. So for instance, a relatively large mushroom, let's say
98 milligrams in dried weight, that has a total content of  0.75 milligrams psilocybin, has an alkaloid content of 0.76 percent.
While a smaller one, let's say only 7 milligrams dry weight, has a total content of 0.13 milligrams psilocybin, which makes
the percentage as high as 1.95. These examples are taken from an actual study of psilocybin content in Norwegian liberty caps.

Thus, if you want to ingest 10 milligrams of psilocybin, you'll have to eat only 13 of the former one, but as much as 76 of the latter.
