i think pelliculosa is a group/complex of a handful of macroscopically similar mostly un described species some of those patches are not the same species. saw alan post about it somewhere recently pretty much confirmed the suspicions. been keeping everything separated and labelled stembutts alive on old conifer bark, alder twigs and mixed sawdust if anyone wants to take a look

Today's hunt I decided to take some dried Psilocybe Cyanescens before I went out hunting as tool & to have beautiful time out in nature. I ate 0.7g dried with my coffee while I was a lecture by Tradd Cotter, maybe about 15-20 minutes after consuming them I was starting to feel it through out my body and had to get going haha. When I arrived and started my way hunting, it was beginning. I didn't really know what to expect, as this my 1st time taking Psilocybe Cyanescens at a dose I would feel. My body felt heavy, I was moving slowly taking in the environment. My vision was heighten as well, everything felt like it was just popping out at me, and made finding mushrooms easier, like they were being highlighted out of the foreground. My thoughts were constantly racing, and being around others hikers was causing high anxiety. But after awhile I calmed down and was really enjoying. When people would stop an ask what I was doing, I would just tell them I was hunting with a big old grin lol. Even had a older couple stop and ask me, and told them I was picking edibles, they what type and I told them gourmet species. They then proceeded to ask what type of gourmet, so told them Pelliculosa and they just carried on haha. Just to think no one knows what they are walking past, it's just sits on the side of trails and everyone just past them with ignorance not knowing it could change their entire perspective of life. Along my journey I stumbled upon some tree frogs communicating up in the tree tops, I spent like a good 20 or so minutes standing there listening to them talking, just taking in the sounds of nature. As I entered to old clearcut, I just couldn't stopping picturing the tree frogs and everything else that use to thrive in that beautiful ecosystem, just for some paper & lumber. It just filled me with a deep sadness for Mother Gaia, and what we are doing. I know this is something most people don't understand, as most of us grow up in a city away from nature, not seeing what damage is done with their own eyes, an not being used to growing up with forest and mountains surrounding them. The only species picking up the pieces, is fungi helping bring balance to nature. Breaking down the dead, and giving new life from it. As I wondered through the graveyard of trees picking the fruits of its death. Overall I had a beautiful expierence but wish I had taken a bit more as I wasn't having visuals, but my senses were affected, hearing, sight, and touch. I apologize for the rant, thank you to anyone who read my trip report. (Video of tree frog experience)

Deer Shit Find - This is something I see often, It seems the deer are spreading Pellis or something else around, this is possibly a species hiding under Pelliculosa. As this seems to associated with dung, not growing from it but always right next to it. I have these separated if anyone is interested in doing DNA Sequencing

If anyone is interested in doing some DNA Sequencing, please feel free to contact me. I have asked Alan Rockefeller if he's interested and I'm just waiting for a response. I have also tried to reach out to Paul Stamets and sent him an email to see if he may be interested to, as I believe he may still be on Vancouver Island or Puget Sound, so he is close by.
Again I'm sorry for the long post, but I hope you enjoy it

Hello all! I’ve been mushroom hunting ever since I moved to Oregon 4 years ago, and have had no luck with actives, and I never really researched and knew what I was looking for. 8 days ago I found some panaeolus that looked interesting to me, and got on shroomery to get them ID’d (turns out they’re probably papillonaceus). Since then I’ve been diving deep and using the tools and help on shroomery to my full advantage! The results have been astounding, in 5 days I found 3 active species! Psilocybe Pelliculosa, Psilocybe Cyanescens, and Gymnopilus Thiersii (most likely). Thanks everyone for the help and enjoy the pics!
The Panaeolus:12/15

Psilocybe Pelliculosa:12/18

Psilocybe Cyanescens:12/19

Gymnopilus (probably) Thiersii: 12/22

Thanks again everyone for all the help! Happy shroomin
PS sorry for the small pics, I’m just using my phone so I have to compress the images.

Those are some really cool finds. I never had any luck during my time living in midway. I wanna try laughing gyms asap.
I went for a walk this morning (30° F) and found some #lonely cyanescens. I hope to find a new patch before Christmas. All I want this year Santa is to gain the ability to see all the cyanescens on the planet.

They were growing out of a wood chip pile that has been sitting in a small horse pasture in a somewhat residential area for years. In the valley, near Eugene

Merry Christmas Psilocybe Pelliculosa
Habitat #1 (old clearcut, most of the snow melted)

Habitat #2 (Old clearcut still covered in snow, I was only able to hunt where the snow has melted a little)

I went out this morning to go pick my presents left under the snow by mother gaia. I was surprised to find anything left after the heavy snow fall we had, luckily most of it has melted, leaving a few Pellis exposed. Collected 5g, and I decided to make a mushroom hot chocolate to celebrate christmas.

probably the last full dehydrator of the year. cant stop hunting.
saw cyans fruiting from an angelica stalk which was kind of mind blowing. saw blackberries and scotch broom blooming and daffodils coming up in microclimates yesterday.

the habitat for pellies and cyans overlaps been find them several feet away from eachother some places. bracken ferns and hypholoma seem to be good indicators for habitat.

this is a peculiar wild cyan area they come up sporadically, singularly every year in random places throughout this giant lawn and only in december. i thought they were growing from buried wood or something but yesterday i dug one up and it was fruiting from the grass directly the whole lawn is like a mat of mycelium

p.s. is anyone else attempting pellies?
