Noted, however I'm quite serious about it.. I'm just experimenting and you don't like it. Mushrooms rot over substrate annually and often. Just the rational side of my observation process leading me to believe it probs won't affect it too greatly. We will see! Will accept an "I told you" so if it fails.

Probably a topic for Cultivation so just a final reply:
It won't fail, it's just not optimal. You could throw socks in these wood chips and mycelium would probably still eat it. My reasoning is that although rotting mushrooms happen all the time in nature and it likely won't have any terrible effect on your substrate, it also won't help with anything. If those caps end up opening and spores come out of it and they end up germinating and forming new colonies, which is rare, it would've been easier to just make several spore prints and squirt spores there manually to increase the chances 10-fold. If your hypothesis on your experiment is that it will end up colonizing the substrate at some time, then yes, probably going to work because of the mycelium that came with those chips and mushrooms. Now if all you want is to grow mushrooms efficiently this is obviously not the way.
Nature itself doesn't care about the yields that humans are interested in. That's why we moved to growing crops instead of just foraging.
It's totally not about liking or not what you're doing by the way

Damn.
So Madmumcher and I have been eyeballing these things. Been calling them elk pans. Just got the results back from the lab. These are not active. FYI. I have one more of them and another lab. Gonna try one more time.

He pretty sure of it. Might be his camera. I texted him the same thing. They look too orange. Rather Galerina esque to me.
Those prints look nice though. Deconica?

That’s interesting. Black print?
What’s the macroscopic diff between these and cinctulus? Also if you have the time to PM me the deets on where you sent for testing, and the process is really appreciate that info.

I saw this little patch, and got very excited. Looked away for two seconds then nearly lost sight of them-- I had a really good feeling about this spot. Nature provides!!

Kinda cool. I have a few other things out for testing. I know it doesn’t look legit. But I had to crop some things out and it is one of the first official report’s this lab has sent out. They had just received their standards last week and I jumped in on a free test. I have another lab that is taking a little longer. I’m a little more excited to see those results. I already knew my azzies were potent as shit.
These were an Oregon coast first flush 2020, dehydrated within the hour of picking.
Edit:
Cropped a little too much.

Ok had to quote myself. Lol. Macroscopically very similar. The habitat is woodland forest, and dune grass habitats so far. I think they follow the elk. That’s why we been calling them elk pans. They are very similar to “cinctulus”, but the stems are longer more cartilagenous with a slightly dark red coloring. Black spore print. And I’d say they do not have mottled gills. I’m probably missing a few traits. They are similar to cincts but a little more hardy.
Any way I’ll talk about this openly because we are not doing anything illegal or wrong. This is for science. The two labs are very new at testing right now. One of them gave me a simple lab report. The other sent a lengthy text. Lots of words. I’ll do my best to get that posted. Basically says my elk pans are not active.
I’m gonna see how the next few tests go and double check the accuracy of the elk pans with the other lab. I will either post the information as to who and where you can submit your specimens for testing or not. Once they figure out how to run the machines properly start charging, and actually have a report they can submit then this will become much more fun. Right now my test’s are free. At first it was 100$, but actually was free, then 50$, but actually free now who knows. I’ll see if I can put actual contact info online.
