Lol xD, yeah idk why anyone is arguing about this, obviously a quick rinse isn't gonna sap all the alkaloids, the water won't even be penetrating the outside of the fruits
On a side note, I'm looking for drying advice. I'm not getting cracker dry, but like 95% of the way there. No dehydrator, just leaving em out with airflow. They always end up a little bendy. They'll crack if I really try but they'd rather bend. Help
Hey spank when I first started picking back in the seventies an old hippie taught me what to do. After carefully rinsing them off, you can string them on a thread and hang them to dry, or simply leave them on a dry piece of cardboard; leave them in a well ventilated, dry, dark place and they will be dry enough in a couple of days or so. I wouldn't use an oven personally because heat will speed up oxidation. I personally freeze them once they are good and dried because this will slow down the oxidation reaction of the psilocybin which will degrade the potency over time. I'm also curious as to how boohoo johnny there makes spore water without rinsing his shrooms.

these all grew from a water bottle 2/3 full of spore water dumped here last spring. I did not expect really anything this season, I still cant believe how well it worked.
It was hard to capture the scope of how big it was with only a flashlight and phones flash but you can see how far back the army of stems goes
Damn, it is really crazy that this emerged from spores in just one year. Fucking crazy how aggressive these woodlovers can be.

Ya unless they were already established there anyway, not even 1 year actually if it was last spring ... .... only a cop could be that stupid. Now it all makes sense.

Haven't gotten out much this season, but there is one healthy patch of Psilocybe cyanescens just down the street. I don't plan to collect them so if you haven't found any yet try here. I'm sure other people know about it so no guarantees.

Super cool John well done! How did you prepare the spore water? Sacrifice a cap to a bottle and shake or collect them on foil and scrape? How many mushrooms worth of spores?

I'm also curious about how you did the spore water? I saw Alan show a similar pic in a lecture of a ton of chips he tossed water on. Crazy shit, just imagine if everyone that picked did a little propagation as well :O
Just had a partially drank water bottle in my truck so I stuffed a big fat rotten cap inside and shook it up. I'm absolutely positive it was not already established. I know the area very well nothing active has grown there besides the stuntzii in my sig in the last 8 years. They all grew exactly where the water got poured, no chance that's a coincidence.

I'd love to know how/why that worked if that is indeed the case. I spread about three gallons of very dark spore water made with over a half-pound of wet cyan caps two years ago all over PDX that hasn't done a thing.

I enveloped some cyans on cardboard and spread around the city this season, so far only one spot has the mycelium prospering. Anyone has any knowledge on how to effectively spread? I have a bunch of cardboards with spores ready to spread. Sorry this went offtopic.

Damn, probably 10 pins for every mature I picked today. If they get left alone till they're ready, it's going to be epic

Spank, on the note of drying without a dehydrator, i let small mushrooms sit on a notecard on my laptop after a brief period of fan drying (fan is probably unnecessary). The heat from the laptop helps em dry out and you can achieve cracker dryness. Also works on gaming consoles or other electronic devices that are on for extended periods. This also works for bigger mushrooms if you cut em up.
Works for bud that's too fresh as well.

Ok, sweet, thanks for all the tips. I actually just ran into some pickers today that said they lost a bunch of azures because they weren't quite all the way dry
My spots are completely desecrated now, uprooted pins and everything...
One has a little sign of life after being fucked about a week ago

Also i have no clue what those lil guys are...
Should be a good season, lots of competition though. We gotta get on our wildlands propagation techniques... anyone have experience scraping spores off of foil into a water bottle, then spraying through little holes?

Finally got out hunting with my husband and the baby this morning. Having a stroller is a great cover for picking and there’s lots of convenient places to store the mushrooms 😎

Just wanna get other sets of eyes on these to make sure nothing stands out. Is it normal for the stems to turn brown? Or did I pick a lookalike? Every mushroom has blue/purple bruising on the edges of the caps and there were even some I left behind because the brownish stem sketched me out.

Looks good. Thanks for using scissors. Were you the one in the side of the road that gave me the extract? That was a weird trip today. Derailed my hunting for sure. Lol quick little trip definitely needed.
