Still haven't found azzies, though I'm making a trip up to the Hotspot pretty soon. All I can say is that looking for cyans in the dunes feels like looking for needles in a haystack, even when you know they grow in the area. The patches I've found have all been after ~1 hour or more of parsing through all the grass.

Today's clear cut findings

Well I know what Im doing tomorrow. Crazy how much these look like mycena, atleast on my computer screen they do.
your amazing pictures have got me wondering if I have overlooked them before given the amount of time ive spent in clear cuts just like these searching getting distracted by the weird stuff on logging roads and being too impatient. Or I realize I am lost as the sun is setting then my priorities shift. I will be pateint and bring these photos with me tomorrow if its not shitty out.
You make it look so easy.
I totally agree, really cool to see all your pelli finds! I look forward to finding one in person because those light gills looking on my phone look like mycena. It seems like the tell tale is the more opaque slightly wavy stem, slightly warmer cap colors.

I should also mention that some pendejo ripped up ALL the bois from the second pic when I went back to inspect it the next day.. pins and all who does that? Which leads me to a question though.. after the rain we're expecting is it possible it will fruit again or did they fuck it up for everyone?

expect that, dont be surprised. many people do not respect them at all.
cyans are all over the mycelium is everywhere. most of the "patches" ive found are in the most random places, completely untouched and only a few fruits, and they do not usually seem to come back every year unless they are on a nice thick substrate like wood chips. seems like most show up once every 3 years IME, its hard to tell. most spots havnt even shown up yet. the dunes are way overrated too, cyans are all over the place mycelium is everywhere. azzies will grow all over too if you give them some help. they are an endangered all you need is one stembutt. they take off quick its really easy just soak some clean fresh hardwood chips or aspen pet bedding in a jar of cold water before you go hunting every time and throw a stembutt in there when you get back. everybody should be starting patches especially of azzies they would be everywhere. colonize a tote of wood chips all winter and go find a nice secret spot to bury it in the spring. talking way too much. no locations.
today is the golden day btw

It fucks it up. It’s fun to have your own patch and harvest sustainably. Unfortunately it’s the name of the game now. Back in the day you could tell other hunters new of the patch, but they would take what was ready. Now it seems one flush and done. I quit looking in town the last few years. I can only imagine how fucked up the known spots are. Seemed like one year everyone just started taking everything right on the first flush. Also seems to be more needles and human shit. Fuck it. Ya gotta get used to showing up to bare spots. Dug up so no one else finds em, and the I gotta have it all mentality.
If you read through years past people always complain about the same thing too. So don’t be surprised if people don’t wanna hear it. It’s about the hunt. Not necessarily the picking. Sometimes the destroyed patch changes your course and you stumble upon something even better. It’s also about timing. And people need to stop sharing spots. It’s a loners game. There is plenty out there for everyone, ya just gotta find em.

Thank you so much Chuck, all your guy's appreciation really warms my heart and really make want to get back out there. I will be back out hunting in a few days and will get some good photos/videos of my finds. We got some rain so they should be popping up in the next few days

After missing out on the picking oppuritunity near my work due to letting them mature for a whole week, i was blessed with a nice pile from a spot i felt was to obvious not to be found. I hope whoever picked that nice cluster has happy travels, im feeling blessed after eating some of these guys mush love! By the way, all of the smaller ones in this pile i chose to harvest as the freezing night damaged a good bit of the patch, but there was plenty of healthy clusters and pins left behind to let mature! Might see even more fruit next week after this forecasted rain and warmer temps works its magic!

I found exactly ONE azzy on the central washington coast yesterday. large one. Ate it about an hour ago. Kicking in now. Damn, these things are strong.
Not sure if one will do it or if two would have been the right amount yet, but yeah - I won't be going out and doing grocery shopping just yet. :P
Now I just need to turn some lights off and put the blinds down a bit - everything is too bright.

Grocery shopping on mushrooms is actually super-fun, assuming the store isn't too crowded. And now we have Uber so you don't need to worry about driving!

Last time I went shopping while tripping I got some really weird vibes, was definitely fun but for some reason all the people swarming for their material possessions made me think of them as of rodents

Seattle Cyanescens growing from under a log. Perfect timing for me, been out searching all this week but no luck. Managed to find these guys and picked some matures before the big rain.

It's been my experience that when the *#tards start ripping all the shrooms out by the mycelium, it usually screws up that patch. I have lost a few really good Baeo patches to morons who do that sort of thing.
As far as telling the Psilocybe pelliculosa from their look alikes', it's simple, all Psilocybe mushrooms will have a seperable gelatinous pellicle and a purple brown spore print; they must have both of these characteristics together. There are many look alikes for pellies so be careful. It's easy to collect a few imposters along with the good ones and that is not a good thing.

Wolfred, yeah gotcha on both those features. It’s nice not to have to print all the mushrooms. Even young allenii and cy’s when their gills are still light are easy to tell because of the cortina and blue bruising. Pelli’s just seem a bit more tricky but then again I’m sure once you have handled them they seem more obvious.

Once you have a trained eye you'll have an easier time identifying them, just like with anything else. I will get some shots of look a likes and indicator species next time I'm out, to give you a better perspective and idea Chuck
