On another note, Nice finds to all the regulars and folks posting mushrooms that they actually know are active. Gonna be an epic season!
Okay first you should calm down a second mabye eat some mushrooms to help chill the hell out
Firstly I posted pics of mushrooms I thought were active because like I said I thought they were active at first so fucking sorry for making a mistake so the mature response would be just polite "hey bro those arnt active so itd be cool if you or a mod removed that post" instead of just blatantly attacking and name calling
Secondly if you would have read that person's post about pulling pins he pulled them because the park was being mass picked by a bunch of people who were already raping the patches so he grabbed some pins somebody else had pointed out in order to transplant them to a more private area so I congratulated that poster for doing a nice thing and transplanting some of the mushrooms to a safer area for them to grow
Mabye you should read and comprehend some of the post BEFORE making passive aggressive attacks
Thirdly I hope you realize it's entirely hypocritical to attack people and then try and say peace love and respect you just showed literally none of those things yet you expect somebody to respond to you in a more mature manner?
Lastly you can cut mushrooms to harvest OR twist and pull them, mabye if you visited some of the other fucking forums you'd have read some of the debates in the cultivation forum about the exact same thing and time and time again it's been shown to not effect yields unless you RIP up massively big clumps so it's just weather or not you want to leave stumps in the patch besides how the hell do you transplant a patch without disturbing any of the mycelium UNLESS you clone to agar or put the spores to agar?
Instead of cluttering up the thread though feel free to start a new one in OTD instead of passive aggressively complaining then we can actually converse without cluttering up this thread with BS
Depending on preference you can cut or pull. If you pull, better be sticking those butts in habitat that will produce. Same with edibles, I'll pull chants, cut stem butt, then bury it in area close to the patch, similar habitat. Patches have expanded enormously over 10 years. Same with actives. If you pull to pick, better put that butt in good environment

The sounds birds make, smells of fresh wild flowers. Love of all kinds, from friends and family, thy self and our neighbors. Beautiful sunrises to the darkest clouds dancing above in the sky. To forgive, learn, share and express. This is the only thing a man such as myself can ask for. What comes as the result is nothing short of the core of human existence, to truly live free in body and mind.

Most definitely and I think that's why alot of people do pull them is to move patches or expand them or even create new ones
Now of course theres always people that just dont know what they're doing but the OP that posted the pic of the pin clump even mentioned transplanting them

Lots of those are from squirrels. Not all but a good sum.
This is very true. Took me years before I realized many of those holes in the ground are from squirrels and even other animals. I saw a dog digging up some woodchips just this week even.
But yeah, also just a ton of shitheads out there. And no this isn't new, it's been like that for at least as long as I've been hunting.
The best advice I can give to ppl frustrated by this is to simply seek out more isolated spots. The handful of giant Seattle parks are so known by this point, it's kind of a joke. These places were mushroom paradises in the past but they're comically popular at this point. Too much competition. I only check those places at the very start of the season, if at all anymore.
I'm not saying you can't find a nice hidden patch at these places, but they aren't nearly as ubiquitous as they once were. Put in the extra time researching/scouting for spots a bit more off the beaten path and you'll eventually be rewarded with something special.

There is a renewed interest in psychedelics because of all the ongoing research and publicity that surrounds it. More and more people are opening up to the idea of using mushrooms (that can be found just about anywhere - for now) to treat their own depression. And I'm sure there are also more and more people that are trying to benefit from this - financially.

Ahhhh damn, I got a few decent hauls this season but the park I pick in got a nice little present this morning, 4 police cams. My patches all got raped anyway so I grabbed a lil mycelium and am jumpin on the backyard patch train. Hopefully this time next year I won't have to even bother with the parks.
Also yeah wtf ti22y eat some mushers and gushers and calm down.

I have to way in on this I'm afraid. I have seen wayyyyy to many pics of shrooms people picked covered in mycellium, and have seen wayyyy to many holes dug up in some of the patches I pick at ... THIS IS A BAD THING ... the only reason for transplanting and doing that kind of damage is if you know for a fact that the spot is going to be developed or bulldozed for example. Just because a lot of other people are picking and there is nothing but pins left by the time you get there is no good reason for raping a spot, or rape it just because other people are doing it. You "DON'T" pull, you cut either with your nail or some scissors, or you use two hands and carefully press down on the base of the stem while you pull the top half of the stem off leaving the mycellium intact. I won't call people down for thier ignorance but I do have a problem with greedy self centred people who don't give a *#it.

As a long time lurker, I do agree that we shouldn't clutter the thread with the wrong mushrooms... also picking pins is always kinda shitty I feel, unless they're obviously dying... if you want to start a new patch you're probably better off getting a few woodchips from the edge of the patch anyways (or whatever medium they're on).
Little bit of rain and a cold snap here, my patch should really be popping tomorrow!

I prefer not to cut because I use the very small pieces of colonized substrate that come with it to spread to another wood chips. Not saying I punch a giant hole in the ground, I just pull it with whatever small wood chip it's holding onto and spread that to another place.
I've probably created dozens of patches this way already and I can confirm at least 5 locations where I dropped colonized substrate and they end up showing next year. P. cyanescens mycelium runs super fast in the right media.

Went and picked some mushrooms today! Cut in half to speed up drying time. Previous batch air dried for 10 days turned cracker dry. I look forward to consuming these bad boys ASAP

Awhile back you posted about sour smelling mushrooms and I think air drying is probably your cause, so you want to dry them as quickly as possible and a food dehydrator is the quickest and best way, they're cracker dry in 24 hours and they're 20 bucks for a cheap one
Another option is to make tea with fresh mushrooms and then freeze it for later use
Air drying doesnt every get them entirely dry, same as dessicants and the little bit of moisture left inside can ruin the whole batch

Try adding a computer fan to a shoebox, with a few holes on the other side. I dry mine to almost cracker in 24h then put them in a box witth silica gel and they go cracker quick. There should be dry air constantly flowing through all sides of it.
