Yeah but like they dont have to pick every single one, they can pick just one in the patch to check and alot of times you can bend it and check bruising on them without ripping them up if your careful mabye I'm to gentle when I'm checking out fungi but I like to get down to the ground and use a stick or my finger or something to bend it a little to check out the stems and gills and then see if it bruises before picking them when possible
I do the exact same thing haha

Omfg I am freaking stupid. I found those out in the wild but were growing next to something else that looked similar. I took a spore print and everything. Purple black.
Then I threw them away because they didn't bruise. Well, I mean, sometimes they bruise straight to black! That's the last time I had cyans they were practically completely black when dried including the stems. Were so freaking potent.
Now I'm going to go back to the tiny spot that only had one bushel of them. Hopefully they grew back. This time, I am not gonna throw them away but I am still going to send in an ID request in a separate thread soon. I hope they're still there. I cut them down about four days ago with a knife.

Hello! I have been following this thread as with others and I finally decided to make an account! I am on the search for cyans, and I think I have all of the characteristics down as well as environment. This year I have started searching up in Whatcom, as well as Skagit county with no luck yet. Anybody else having luck in those counties? And any tips? I’ve searched Whatcom falls and the Arboretum so far with no luck, but then maybe it just not my time yet!

Fused Gills in Psilocybe Cyanescens [Re: skOsH] 1

A few days ago I found a patch of cyans and noticed some of them had fused gills. Any idea what could cause this? Fungal infection maybe, or possibly an odd phenotype? About 10% of the patch had these fused gills. Only the snallest specimens had 100% fused gills from stem to cap edge. Some larger specimens showed only a partial fusing of the gills near the cap margin. The gill area appeared healthy, no sign of foreign material or growth. The result was a fleshy cap that was a bit heavier/thicker than normal
Any ideas on cause?

Any pics of the cap? I’d say those are not Cyans.

Can you try and spore print any of the fused cap ones? That would be cool to see if they even drop spores mabye even create some patches of mutants if its hereditary?

Where are you guys finding all these? I've been in PNW for nearly 14 years now and all I've ever seen are the occasional Amanita muscaria. Only recently did I start actively searching for psilocybe but I end up finding everything else - Gallerina, Entoloma, Laccaria

I think this is a puppet account. Who knows how to change the title of the thread in their very first post?

I can assure you that they are indeed cyans. I realize this is my first post, but I have personally seen and positively identified thousands of cyans. In all other respects these were identical to typical cyans - notice the blueing on the stems.
