Plugs in prepared medium

Seems like plugs could be used as a convenient way of starting bottle cultures. Just drop one or two in each bottle and no mess or fuss.
Any thoughts?

Plugs are typically only used for mushrooms found on logs in the wild like oysters or lions mane.
You could use them for cube production but i dont see any reason you wouldn't just use agar

Thanks for the friendly response.
I know what plugs are for but that does not preclude their being used for a different purpose.
I have been growing oysters in bottles for years and this seems like a more convenient way to start them.
Take your meds old man.
After you are calm, point me to a thread on this site that answers the question.

No, its not a good idea. Its a waste of time. Drop agar onto your bottle cultures. That is the best method and practice.
Also, don't be a dick to our users if you want any more answers.

The first response you received answered your question. As you’re on the active side, it’s assumed you were referring to Psilocybe mushrooms, most of which aren’t wood lovers. Even for those species that are or even non-actives such as gourmet and medicinal which are predominantly wood lovers, agar is still the better route for inoculating spawn or bottle sub. Could you use plugs, sure, but why? Agar is easier and more convenient. You seem to run into conflict over in gourmet as well, so maybe the problem is with you. With your piss poor attitude, you won’t be missed on either board.
