Should I shake those jars?
    #26934541 - 09/14/20 05:02 AM (3 years, 4 months ago)

These have been inoculated from agar about two weeks ago. I accidentally used wheat instead of rye (long story), but they still seem to work. Although it looks a bit too wet inside, or?

My question would be whether you would shake those to spread the mycelium. Or should I just leave them as be?

And also, do you think those look fine?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Those are way overdue for shaking. I'd have prolly shaken 2-3 times by now and they'd be done.

Of course LotKid is right.

They do look good though.

Yeah, that’s what I thought. Unfortunately, I had to leave home and couldn’t come back earlier due to covid reasons :undecided:

Is it still worth shaking (like can it hurt in some way when waiting for too long to shake), or should I just leave them be?

Another thing: don’t you guys think that these are bacterial? The mycelium looks pretty ‘thick’ IMO (but I am pretty much a noob).

Def still worth shaking. Might be a lil difficult to break up but do the best you can. They do look thick and they're prolly a lil bacterial but they still look like they should produce fruit. If you shake em and they dont recover then, they werent meant to be.

Was this syringe or agar?

The only one that looks real sketchy is the last one imo.

This was agar. But unfortunately, I didn’t have much time before I left, so I only managed to get 1-2 transfers done. :undecided:

Interesting that you say the last one looks the worst. I thought it was the ‘best’. But then again, I am pretty much a noob. :-)
