When using Straw does it need to be cut up? And if so any good tips on how to do that?

Yea, 2-6 cm long. If you don't have much straw, then with hands/scissors, otherwise some saw or that thing you cut grass with.

You can put straw into high plastic container and use grass cutter. See this video at around 1:20.

Some people use a weed eater and a trash can. Others use a wood chipper or leaf mulcher. In my opinion, straw is to much work. Find hardwood fuel pellets $6 for a 40lb bag and soy hulls or wheat bran. Fuel pellets will make your life a lot easier. I do my bags in minutes. A 40 lb bag of fuel pellets will make about 33 5 lb bags. Labor is the most expensive part so cut down on labor by using fuel pellets.

Try straw a couple times and you'll see why we hate it... it's a giant freakin' pain in the ass.

Thank you all for the tips.
I totally agree that straw is a poor choice and I shall find hardwood fuel pellets in the future. But I have this straw for now cause I couldn't find fuel pellets. Maybe I don't know where to look for them.

I usually get my fuel pellets from tractor supply or southern states stores. If you don't have one of those stores near you the search is still well worth the effort once you find them all the work is done. Then all you need is a ZJ-LCD-M flow meter and life will be easy.

Straw isn't a poor choice, it's just a lot of labor.  I used to know people who would just run it over with a lawn mower and shoot it against a wall.  That's probably the easiest sounding method I've heard.
