Am I growing mold or mycelium?

Inoculated a grain jar with a spore syringe. Made a grain-to-agar transfer, and then transfered a second time to another agar plate. This is the result. At the beginning I was sure it was mycelium but now I'm second guessing myself.
I appreciate all feedback.

Definitely mold
Is that your only syringe?

There is a lot left in that syringe and I've got a few others but they're a bit older.

Ya. Has to be mold. Your syringe is fucked. But who knows maybe its also from your technique.. we will never know for sure

I'm going to dump all of this and start over one more time with that syringe and see what we can get.

So I trashed everything and started over. Can anyone tell yet if I'm looking at mold yet again or is this mycelium?
This might be the hardest part for me to discern the difference between. I've looked at comparison pictures and in those I can clearly see a difference but when looking at my products I'm not so sure.

Are you doing syringe to grain then grain to agar? If so why not try syringe to agar and see what you get

Indeed. That looks like mold again. If you are doing this method still, abandon it. Why on earth are you first inoculating the grains with the syringe and then going to agar ? I must ask, because I have not encountered this type of method yet. Syringe to agar bro.

Let me clarify. The first time was syringe to grain, then grain to agar. Only because I didn't yet have the agar plates ready.
This time I did so I went straight syringe to agar.
My procedure was in a sab. I first flamed the needle, then moved into the sab. From here I squirted a small amount into a new petri dish at the edge of the inside of the dish as to cool the needle. Then I squirted a second small "puddle" on the opposite side of the dish. Then I used a fresh inoculation loop (plastic disposable) as per bods tek in a Z formation.
I did this with 3 separate syringes that I've accumulated. 2 of them are over a year old and the other is more or less a year old. They were stored in my closet the whole time.
I did a varying amount of the 3 for a total of 20 or so. A few had some dark colored mold that I've already thrown out. Some have small yellowish dots that I'm sure isn't mycelium but I don't know what it is. And others have this that's pictured.
I've been hesitant to pull the trigger on getting another syringe since I still have these 3 that are still quite full. But, looking as though that's the most logical next step?

Yes. Discard these syringes that have shown not to work. Order from a different place. Give feedback to the shop as well since you have tried a lot. Mycelium does not look that wispy or stringy. It is either fluffy or rhizomorphic in growth usually. Yellow dots are bacteria I think. You might try a spore print too. Maybe that works better.

If you're getting new spores definitely get a print. Syringes suck for agar in my experience and several others around here.
I've only had trouble with one print ever and that one just didn't germinate after a week so I swiped a new print of a different variety on the other side of the plate. Every syringe I've ever taken to agar has had bacteria that I've had to deal with to get clean myc.

Okay, ordered a new syringe and inoculated some grain jars for some, hopefully quick, clean spawn. Also inoculated some agar plates with the same spore syringe.
Can someone help me identify what's what in these pictures? I think I've got clean spawn but then I look closer and see fuzzy shit and I think it's mold.
Also, there's one image of an agar plate. I think I see two different somethings on there but I don't know where to begin to tell the difference.

I have a bunch of other prepared grain jars ready for g2g but I'd like to get a little more feedback before to have a little more confidence that this looks right...

I had a bit of trouble identifying mold vs myc too. The differences can be subtle or extreme but once you know for sure what happy mycelium looks like, you'll be able to spot mold right away.
Check this out.
Here's a good side by side of mold and myc.

Not all mold will change color but if you look closely at the strands you can spot the difference. Myc strands run pretty consistent with eachother and looks smooth. Mold strands are kind of sporadic and look kind of messy.

Looks like mycelium to me....mycelium and allot of moisture! Jars look wet and bacterial.

Hmm, I don't know.
It may just look like a lot of moisture in the pictures but in person I was almost concerned I dried the grains too much before sealing them and pcing them.
Does anyone else think they look too moist and bacterial?
