Been trying to grow for a couple months now, haven’t been having much luck. Been trying to grow on popcorn. I have had some success but so far a lot more failure. Most of my jars seem to be stalling out or not growing at all but I do have 2 or 3 growing decently well it looks like but haven’t had much progress in the last week or so. I inoculated all with liquid spore syringes. Been having a brownish sludgy liquid show up on the bottom and the sides of the jars smells rancid been throwing jars out that have been getting that liquid. Just need some tips. I been hydrating my corn by pc for 30 mins at 15 psi then drawing and filling jars then pc them for 2 hours at 15 psi

Spore syringes to grain is always a crap shoot. You'll get "some " success as you describe. Your prep sounds just fine (assuming you're venting your PC and all that jazz). That nasty brown liquid and smell is bacterial contamination from your syringe. Grab some agar and a couple sleeves of petris or containers for prepours and check out the many tutorials on the site and you won't have this problem. Don't be intimidated by agar. It's super simple and will save you countless hours, disappointment, and money. If you don't have a SAB, go spend the ten bucks on a tote and make one. That's the secret sauce. Clean inoculant =viable jars of spawn instead of that applejack smelling bacterial mess.

Either do agar/use brf paste to get clean myc or switch to making brf cakes.
Syringe to grain only works with the rare clean syringes and it sounds like yours isn’t.
Also I’d switch to wbs or wheat or something. Corn/popcorn seem to be pretty lame from what I’ve seen.

So I’ve made some agar, can I put a pieces of colonized grain into the dishes and have it grow out from there?

Yep.
It can be tough to get them out clean though so be ready to do another transfer in a couple days just in case.
