Will this SAB work?

This is a new SAB and I just noticed this gap when I turn it upside down on the table.... will it be a problem. I don’t want to use it with the lid as the “floor” but I will..

You can use a big damp towel as the floor. It would also serve to catch floating particles too.

It certainly can, the bigger question is will your sterile technique work?

Lol, if you have successfully cultivated to that point why ask "if this sab will work" as if you're not sure you got the concept down???

A damp towel doesn't sound sterile to me. Buy some foam strips you can make a perfect seal with some tape and effort.

I’m not a pro. I know very little. I just wanted some people with more experience to reply. I felt like why mention my sterile technique at all? But yea, I got my question answered at least.

if you want it to be a true still air box you need a seal on the bottom and gloves glued into the holes so there is STILL air.
If you grew 400 pounds of mushrooms why question your technique whatever you are smoking please send some here please!!!

I’ve used the same sab since I started..that one didn’t have the gap, this one does. So I asked the q. I was hoping to get an answer without the slick comments but this site is full of those. Quote:

As an aspiring trusted cultivator I advise you to go to the home depots and get you some weather stripping for doors. One side is sticky. Other side is foam for your perfect seal for under $8

Is that you or a stock photo you found on google?
Edit: SAB > Glovebox. This is well established in this hobby.

Yea but I’m pretty sure we shouldn’t put gloves on the sab. But the wether stripping sounds good. Thanks
glove boxes with attached gloves create air currents, you don't want to stir up non sterile air, you want to avoid having the contamination end up in your work in the first place -Bodhisatta

Sorry fellas I've been on Jenny1 fishing for shrimp all day forgot about glove boxes, SAB's, FAE...SAB is perfectly fine wear a long sleeve shirt.
Depending how much gap you have might opt for the thicker stripping. They sell a few sizes.

You don't want a seal or the gloves... Simple is better, those things will cause suction which is not something you want to have happen in a still air box. That professional lab build you showed a picture of is a totally different beast than the home build. Big enough holes to get your arms through with some space to spare on all sides of your arm so that your arms themselves don't cause any air turbulence causing suction with your motions. Slow steady moves in quiet still air with as few moving parts as possible to foul things up. 🤘
