Slow coir tub colonization

I inoculated a tub of coir with well colonized millet grains and 1/4 cup food grade gypsum per 700g coir, but colonization is going very slowly. There is some very nice rhizomorphic growth, but the mycelium in between the rhizomorphs seems quite thin. I had it at a constant 80F for about 1.5 weeks, then dropped it to room temp, about 68F because I was concerned of potential contamination because it seemed to be going very slow for a thorough colonization. Is there anything I could do to help it out? Could this be because it's too moist? If so, I could break it all up and introduce some dry, sterilized coir. Unless that's not a good idea... The variety is Transkei btw...

It looks colonized, I'm not sure what you're worried about.

Never break it up or something like that. Leave it alone now and just look for proper surface, nothing more. You`re within a usual time frame, you should worry if it colonizes too fast. I bet you`ll see primordia within a week, looks promising.

Ok that's good to hear. I guess then I should initiate mushroom growing conditions? Maintain a lower temp 68-73, a little bit more air flow by cracking the lid, and light on a timer?

Wait until the entire surface looks like snow. Seriously that's when there's close to no nutrients left and it's go time for fruiting.

You don't initiate anything, just let it do its own. The more you handle, the more you harm. As said, just look for best moisture content in relation to a bit of airflow. Fruiting is at its best, when you don't await it

That's what I was going for, but it doesn't seem to have changed over the last week which is making me concerned...
