On the left is Columbian Rust, I inoculated the spores 9/1, the right is PES Hawaiian, same day. They've really taken off in the last couple days. I like the slight difference in their morphologies. Wish I could get spores to germinate on agar better so I could take pics of karyogamy and autocatalysis.

ya im fully aware of all of that. but if u have a wrinkled dry ass hard agar chunk. the chances ur gnna easily just transfer it to a new plate and all will b fine and dandy are slim. ive had several cultures that has happened to and all of them were toast. that happens a hell of a lot easier on plates and ive never had a culture die on a slant yet thwy are far far better for long term storage. but i at least try to not let my keepers get into even the area of bad condition by at least waking them up every 2 yrs if not grown and transfering to a new slant(s) and allowing them to grow out a bit before placing back into cold storage. i have several cube cultures that are past 2 yrs and i really need to take the time and do that the next time i pour more slants. i imagine tho that species that are known to produce stones you could bring back a lot easier from conditions like that. but if you practice good culture keeping and labeling its pretty easy to never even have that issue come up. i know every single time it happened to me was out of being lazy and not that i forgot about it. but shit def can be easy to forget about tho. i keep a paper taped on the side of the fridge with every slant in there and the date last put in. i dont do that with plates tho only slants and just doin that really helped me keep up on that shit

Yah I had to scrape the dried agar/culture off the bottom of the petri with my blade. Maybe did it 3 or 4 separate times? Try it yourself. Just take a petri and let that bitch dry out for a few months(assuming it wont mold)

Damn son! You must have a giant fridge for myco purpose I will have to start with like at least 50 though because I've started racking up on good clones i'd like to try to store. What kind of rack do you use to store them? or is sideways in a container fine?
I just use plastic bags inside insulated coolers inside the fridge.
Slants are great for lots of reasons. They take up way less space than plates and can be stored a LONG time
Ive worked w 6 yr old slants that fruit just as well as the day they were made
If i like the cultures perform, it goes into the notebook and into the "interesting cultures" bin. If its trash i toss it

Did you see my replies to you and my question above?
Here is another kooky gh culture pinning prolifically and trying to colonize the top of the plate haha
Zoom in on these pics and the others, look how the myc grows, its insane

Maybe they died from heat or lack of ge or something besides dehydration? My old pan slants and pink oysters died from cold

i bought one of those lil mini dorm room size fridges for all my plates and slants and even prints.
il store all my shit tho wrapped in foil and then paper towels stored in those padded cooler bags/lunch bags. it pretty much 100% prevents all condensation. ive had bad luck with pan cultures below 35 deg so i played with my temp and i keep it at a constant 40deg and i have zero issues at all with the pan cultures. cubes tho them fuckers can handle anything above freezing lol ive never tried below freezing but with as tough as them fuckers are it wouldnt suprise me if they handled that too

Im about to try freezing a cube culture haha... good idea, im curious
To be fair my dead pan cultures were stored for about 3 yrs. Its hard to imagine pan myc survival that long in nature (kinda like cordys), even in some kind of cold stasis, just because of how their lifecycle works
So it could have been a combination of many factors. Every other species and culture besides pink oysters survived though

Ill do 2, one overnight then test the other in a month
Maybe even freeze a fresh fruit and try to clone it
I dont suspect it will work, since i think the ice will rupture the cell walls, but ive learned not to underestimate the tenacity of cube myc

Freezing a cube will cause the cells to rupture and you won't have anything but bruised mush.
The only way to give it a chance is to dehydrate a little.
I did understand what you meant about the gh

Guys, this will sound bizarre but it is genuinely fucking bothering me. My wife really wanted to see my shrooms growing, and so I told her fine. I didn't register it in the moment but she just munched down on around 90mg of strong CBD gummies. When she saw my shrooms, she screamed "Woooooow!" and kept fucking talking over them until I told her to stop talking directly over them (literally directly over the cakes) minutes after chewing potent CBD. (Before you guys say dont downtalk your wife blablabla I didnt downtalk her, I told her before this meant a lot to me and please dont spit or touch them, etc.)
Now I'm bummed because I'm wondering if CBD residue from her mouth can be over my shrooms. I really wanted to take psilocybin in its purest form without any other bullshit mixed in, and I don't know if that's possible now.
I have no interest in CBD or how it works so I don't know if this is possible or not but it bothers me.
What do you guys think?
