Spem in Alium
    #2693037 - 05/17/04 09:47 PM (12 years, 5 months ago)

I was driving home on the highway one day, listening to CBC radio. The host that evening played a song called Spem in Alium by a Renaissance artist named Thomas Tallis. I was so touched, and so moved by this piece that I pulled over so as to rummage for a pen and write "Spem in Alium" on my arm. I didn't start driving again until the song was over. I was just totally capitivated. Listening to it brought this special quality of magnificence to everything in my surroundings, which says quite a lot because I have a terrible car. Upon arriving home, I searched for it on google and found it at a website called Ludwidvanweb.com. In order to download it, I had to pay them a few British pounds. That seemed like no matter. It's just that beautiful.

Since I believe that nobody should be profiting from such holy objects (especially since the artist is now deceased), and that songs like these should not only be freely available but broadcast on loudspeakers in every major city on the globe, I'm going to make this wonderful, beautiful, holy song available to anyone.

It is a very spiritual song.

Please download it here. (13.9 MB 192kbps mp3, 10:10)

If you have any objections to this blatant and direct music piracy, please visit Ludwigvanweb.com and purchase this track. (GBP 2.71)

This is a really beautiful piece of music. It must be one of the most challenging pieces for a choir to perform well. Definitely coming with me on my next trip. Thanks very much.

a little too churchy for me, but i could see how itd be peaceful on a leisurely drive home, viewing the elegant spring scenery  :sun:

Mindfulness is the aware, balanced acceptance of the present experience.
It isn't more complicated than that.
It is opening to or recieving the present moment, pleasant or unpleasant, just as it is,
without either clinging to it or rejecting it.

Very nice, Ped.  Thanks for sharing it.

The day will come when, after harnessing the ether, the winds, the tides, gravitation, we shall harness for God the energies of love. And, on that day, for the second time in the history of the world, man will have discovered fire.  -Teilard
