Hello, I am wondering if it is safe to eat mushrooms while i take medication such as Trazadone, Zyprexa and Zoloft? I know some medications can interfere... I’m just not sure which ones are safe.

Antidepressants (specifically SSRIs like Zoloft) will basically block the trip. MAOIs are dangerous.

Consuming psilocybin while on an SSRI can be lethal... It won't block the trip as suggested by someone else, it will lead to serotonin syndrome and depending on a number of factors, it could literally kill you... As far as trazadone and zyprexa goes, they act on different receptors than psilocybin but why take the chance? I've read stories where antipsychotics were used to abort bad trips but that is anecdotal information at best, not verified by medical science... If you want to trip that badly, I suggest you temporarily taper off the psyche meds first, if your condition will allow you to do so... Out of curiosity, why are you on these meds? A better question, can you taper off without running the risk of breakdown or relapse? Zyprexa is serious shit... I know that you know what I mean... These are things to consider, I'm just looking out for you.

I've tried taking antipsychotics to abort bad trips. It did not work at all. In fact, it made it much worse
Seroquel basically shuts your brain down. If you're in a normal state usually that just means that you feel compelled to fall asleep. While I was on LSD, though, I could not fall asleep. Basically I just laid there like a vegetable, devoid of any feelings of euphoria or any of the other positives of psychedelics, but the "strange" thoughts and perceptions remained. My thinking was so dulled that I couldn't reflect on them, though. It was just like a shitty dream or a passive experience
It's difficult to describe what the experience was like, but I can say it was definitely not enjoyable and it did not prematurely end the trip

Sorry to hear that you had that bad experience... Another life lesson, which is a good thing... That's why I made it a point to say it was anecdotal information... The one thing I failed to point out though, and it's important, most of the people claimed they used risperdal, which is a weird antipsychotic to be on... Long term it really screws up your metabolism

Trazodone is one of the most effective "trip killers" there is. It's an antagonist of the 5ht2a receptor that psilocin binds to, and it effectively blocks the psilocin activity at the receptors. Zyprexa has a similar method of action. You almost certainly won't trip if you're on a moderate dose of those two, and really should not increase the dose to try to compensate, especially with an SSRI in the mix.
The research of combining ssri's and mushrooms is minimal. Most people I've heard who've done it say they barely tripped. Serotonin syndrome is always possible though not very commonly reported with mushrooms, but in general it's best to go into such a powerful experience with a brain that's free of other chemical agents that might hamper it's ability to process what you're feeding it. Taking a few days off from your meds also would not help, and would be possibly very dangerous and almost certainly very uncomfortable.
