U.S. confirms S. Korea troop cut - Redeployment to Iraq
    #2692960 - 05/17/04 09:28 PM (12 years, 7 months ago)

http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/asiapcf/05/17/skorea.troops/index.html
The United States has notified South Korea and Japan it plans to move about 3,600 troops from South Korea to Iraq, senior Pentagon officials confirmed to CNN.

I think it would have been much wiser to select troops stationed in nations such as Japan and Germany. Thoughts?

We should pull them from all three.

All three have made it fairly clear the citizens would rather we were gone.

The military is being spread way too thin.

Another consequence of this ridiculous war.

Ideally we would and should. But realistically, I don't see the strategy inherent in removing troops from a relatively volatile area when compared with Germany and Japan.

If we were to pull out of all three, the locals would either want us back or not. I don't think we should have troops stationed in countries without active hostilities unless there is a general wish for us to be there.

I do see where you're coming from though..
