Agar surface damage
    #26928951 - 09/10/20 08:06 PM (3 years, 4 months ago)

So today I was cutting a piece of wedge out to transfer from my fully colonized plate... I was using one of those tools ppl use for dabs. I cut a wedge bigger than my tool could handle scooping up and it fell back down onto the plates culture. I panicked and made it worse by struggling to scoop it, only to mangle sections of the mycelium and now it looks like there’s bare spots where the mycelium was connected. I completely failed lol but still got it in my grain transfer.

My question is... what’s the tolerance of a myc culture on a plate when faced with physical distress? It literally looks like this wedge wiped the myc clean off the agar in some sections. I used the search button and it appears I’m the only shroomite who’s faced this major fail Smfh please help lol

Well first off you should get a scalpel or exacto knife💪. If you work under sterile conditions and the mycelium is clean,  it should bounce back.

You're not the only one to face this. We all have. It'll be fine as long as your tek was on par. Invisible myc lives within the agar and is not offended by the trauma.
