Edible bolete?
    #26928695 - 09/10/20 05:32 PM (3 years, 4 months ago)

Hey found a bunch of what I think are boletes, growing on wood chips along a path in massachusetts. Was wondering if they're edible?

Could be a slippery jack... but need more pictures of underneath and stem. Im not an expert but maybe you can read up on them... good luck!

We'll need more pictures and a description to make a proper identification.

You'll need to take pictures of the whole mushroom including shots of the tube surface and entire stem.
Also slice a mature specimen lengthwise in half to observe flesh color and eventual bruising or color change.

I don't think this is Suillus luteus, that one has a ring and a white stem. This might be a Xerocomellus sp.
