Bacterial or no?
    #26928528 - 09/10/20 03:28 PM (3 years, 4 months ago)

What you’re looking at is apart of my Mushroom Journey that started during covid. This is spore print to agar tranfered twice then put to rye.
One of my first babies that i got revived and on grain. She looks the best out of em and finished the fastest. The yellow square is the agar puck

I was planning on G2G'ing this jar to 6 others most likely and doing a few shoeboxes, but if its bacterial i should just spawn it to one box alone I'm guessing...

I spawned it from a plate on 8/16 and shook at about 30%
I had jars that went much faster but blew up with green of black mold. This is the only one that looks clean to my eye out of the 4. Any advice wuld be cool, thanks yall

Looks like you're a bit farther ahead than me with the bacterial jars. Trying to avoid g2ging if this isn't clean spawn but I haven't a clue. Might just do it anyway!

If you have the time I would start over, but I am rushing to output mushies. So I used bacterial spawn and am running an experiment thread over at one of those links. I am posting new pics including this one over there. Hopefully, you learn something.

Thats some crazy looking stuff. I was checking out ur threads it made me realize maybe I should wait to know I have 100% clean spawn before doing g2g. Well see

I am moving out of this place in less than a year so I figured why not run some experiments to learn about bacteria. I learn better by doing than reading cautionary tales on the internet. I plan to keep updating with harvest weights so you should comment on the thread so it stays in your thread notifications.

Noob but those jars look pretty damn clean. Usually need to look out for wet spots or "chunky" mycelium but yours look great.

Compare with here: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/24283829#24283829

I wouldn't G2G those jars.

As far as risking blowing up your grow spot by growing out dirty spawn, It's not the biggest worry so long as you don't let tubs just sit and puke spores like a mofo. I've spawned lots of questionable things just to learn. Just keep a close eye and get them out of the house before they blow up.

Ok, thanks for the advice.

I actually think its one of my only good ones. The ones that grew super quick obviously molded. This one took its time I watched it slowly grab the grains and not avoid any weird patches to my knowledge. Its just one of my first good jars in the grand scheme, just wanted a keener eye. My last jars I did in blue ball jars so I was kinda fucked when it came to gaining experience looking at them grow.

Yeah. Clear jars are key. I honestly think that jar is fucked but you may have just prepped your grain super dry. Or your jars just colonize way different for some other reason. But i'd say she's fucked. If i were a noob i'd spawn her to a shoe box for learning's sake. Or shake her up real good and see how she recovers

Im sure I prepped it too dry lol I was thinking the same thing. Ill just shoe box her 1:1 ratio and see what I get. Unless you would recommend a different ratio. Gunna PC my CVG i guess

Edit: Probably 1:2 or 3 so it actually fills something lol

I'd go one to two or three in a shoe. you'll need the additional sub to hold enough water to get anything worth while without having to mist all day.

That counter is reflecting yellow tinge. Take a picture with more light on a solid colored table or with a towel on it.

Exactly why i quit using oats. I hate that the myc looks so fugly sometimes. If that were any other grain i'd say throw it away. With oats, i just don't know. Doesn't look good though.

I'm sure your grain prep wasn't too bad, the rye looks hospitable from the looks of it lol. Tho I cant tell you how many different organisms are thriving in there. Your nose will tell you after a shake or when you open the lid.

I can see how they might appear to resemble Oats at a quick glance with all that flimsy looking growth that's somewhat charactersistic to oat jars :eatingout:

Hey im not looking for perfection lol.
Just wanted to experiment and see whatd grow. Science! Not too concerned about my grow space at this point.

This myc is acting real funny as it always kind of did even in the petris. Probably because it’s bacterial 😂

Jars look like cobweb - had the same looking myc in one of my jars last year, looked like cube myc but grew way too quickly.

From the tubs it looks like that might be Trich mycelium, or some other type of mold.

I would keep a very close eye on this and toss it the second i see any colors.

Theres a few signs of what i think is rhizo growth but a good portion of it looks like weird puff that i cant imagine pins would like. Very odd. No bad smell or colors yet. Can anyone see mushrooms coming off this? I keep thinking it might be because its vermiculite but idk. Spawned on 10/23. Im thinking too fast too thick of growth for only 6 days. This looks crazy lol

This other tub that I immediately cased when i spwned it the same day looks way more laid back. 🤷🏽‍♂️
:lolwut:

Not sure man, that looks so strange that I think you should keep em going and see what happens for science haha.

I've had success casing with just vermiculite but I found that to do more harm than good for cubensis since it introduces a pretty decent vector for contamination and isn't needed at all.

I would not throw that away if it smells mushrooms. Looks kind of wierd but "clean" at the same time so who knows, a mysterious mutant coming?

Alright alright. You guys were right, as always :lolsy:

Tub is going green as the first flush sets. Outside u go lady.

Science experiment complete, don't spawn questionable grains unless u want to get your hopes up for the trich finish. :super:

Good news is I just slaved out a 20lb bag of wbs and made a bunch of quart and pint jars to have fun with when my trick or treat bag gets here  More science later boys for now, adios.

Ummm... boys? These are some chunker pins:awebig:

For the amount of questionable actions taken and time to spawn from spore to tub (200 days ish lmfao) the pinset only shit the bed slightly, a shart if you will. Anyway. Thats gunna be fruit in hand

It's normal to get chunkers when an entire tub only puts out 15 fruits. Glad you're getting some magic though.

Idk maybe the spawn wasn’t 💯 or the substrate wasn’t 💯. Still you have fruits congrats 🎈

Cubes are hardy as hell! Look at those boios!

Just knocked up 14 quarts ms to grain. Also starting over on agar with a new AA+ print from spore works. Stores around didnt have pasties so i got the mini rubbermaid mf’s instead. Super expensive and a bit too deep but theyll do for germ plates until my petris arrive.
