Wondering if I've got a Boletus mushroom

I picked this mushroom up next to my driveway in Berkeley CA. It had been there for a few months, and since my puppy was starting to chew up everything in sight, I was afraid she might be poisoned by this thing. But once I looked at it close-up, it had pores on the bottom of the cap, not gills. Is that a reliable sign that it's a Boletus, like a porcini, edible and delicious? Or are there poisonous mushrooms that look the same? I'd do a spore print if necessary to confirm ID. I'm not that attached to eating this particular one, but it would be nice to know if there were delicious wild mushrooms growing here I could infallibly identify and consume without fear.
I tried to attach a jpg. picture to this post - as one would expect. I got an error message saying it could not accept this sort of file - but videos, "torrents" etc , would be OK- WTF? For some reason, the only "allowed extensions" are: Allowed extensions: .7z .aac .ac3 .avi .azw3 .chm .djvu .doc .docx .epub .flac .flv .gz .kmz .m4a .m4v .mobi .mov .mp3 .mp4 .mpeg .mpg .nzb .odt .ogg .pdf .pgp .ppt .psd .ra .rar .rm .torrent .txt .wav .wma .wmv .xpi .zip
None of these are formats that most people have photos in. What's the purpose of this? Who wants to watch movies of mushrooms when a still image will do?

Hi by the sound of things you have found a bolete it's a shame about ease of uploading pictures, and as you say dont eat it. Try a good field guide of your area or a search on the web. If you have found a porcini look for a white webbing on the stem near the top but still dont eat it until you are 100% certain.

Easy as pie? Eating it, or making one from scratch? Did the Shroomery get a great deal on vintage forum software?

Its not that hard, you're making mountains out of mole hills. And yes, we do enjoy our antiquated technology...in fact I'm typing this from a Victorian typewriter.
You have a shelf fungus not a bolete.
