I know exactly how you feel. Or maybe close anyway on this topic. Something about the all white mushroom seems to say “fuck with me bro, try it”

I’ve totally neglected maintaining my room and the contams have increased noticeably. When I first started it I left a plate out open for a little bit it would grow a few things but now it’s like the whole thing will be coated in mold.
I’m getting ready to do a serious cleaning now that it’s cooled off, besides being gross I’m sure it’s super unhealthy.
What are you doing to clean your room? It's not like my room is filthy, btw (it's kept very clean), but of course I can't see the sporeload, which is what matters. The best I could think of to reduce spore load is shampoo carpet while running the hood (I fruit my tubs in the room adjacent to my lab, they share a door) to either suck up some spores from the carpet and at least get them airborne so the hood can suck them up, and of course wipe walls down with bleach. But I don't know if it'd even have any noticable impact on spore load, or if spore load is even my problem. I leave the windows open all day to in hopes of diluting the ambient spore levels.
And no, ripping out the carpet isn't an option. I'm thinking on my next couple tubs I'll try letting them colonize in a different room just to see if anything change.

I'm missing something, how's not venting going to give you moldy jars? Even if there's lots of air still trapped in the PC, they dry heat in those air pockets should be enough to kill mold spores within minutes, right?

Hopefully I find my mistake soon enough, I'm well over 150+ jars worth of failure right now. Occassional successes, but nothing like it used to/should be.
I realized last week that I may be pulling in contams by taking my jars out of the PC too soon, where the tempature difference draws in dirty air. So I've been trying that out, and expirimenting with diff grain prep procedures and turning my hood on a couple hours before working rather than 10-20 min. Had two batches of G2G done with 100% success so far, they are now at around 80% colonized. That hasn't happened in months.. It feels amazing lol. Hoping I've got the bitch nailed down but we'll see.

I used to grow in a moldy apartment without furniture. I didn't live there, just grew. There were mold on the walls, ceilings, wardrobes, doors.... I even had to seal some windows because the boxes where the blinds go were rotting away with mold.
I cleaned the place like crazy several times, bleached everything, vacuum everything... to no avail.
My success rate with agar in a SAB went from virtually 100% to 30%. Many sterilized plastic containers (as small as 100ml and as big as 1 litre) molded away without even opening them.
The only shit I was always able to get clean were my LC's and had to switch to syringes instead of pouring the LC, which gave me lots of mold too.
I saw no mold in my jars since I started using syringes and no mold in my tubs either, ever. I'm not trying to discredit no one or being argumentative, I'm just telling you guys my experience.

well ya when you've got living mold on the walls of your room, its gonna fragment and grow like crazy. but those are rather unconventional settings. 'a dirty old house' is a bit different than a literal mold factory.

The thing is, if my spawn was clean my tubs would not contaminate in that moldy af apartment no matter what. That's why I remain a little skeptical every time I see someone blaming a moldy place when their tubs go green. I'm open to it being a possibility for some, but it just wasn't my case at all.

Sweet, that's what I think too and it's only logical, imo. Just had 5 tubs back to back recently that all looked and smelled good only to contaminate before first flush. I've actually been having good luck with LCs too though, coincidentally, and wanted to piece together some injection lids (normally I agree that just opening the lid makes more sense than injecting, but I'm trying everything right now).
Would these lids work well for injecting into grain jars, or are these mostly for sucking up LC? I'm not really sure what the different components of the lid do, and all the SHIP teks I found looked really sloppy: https://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/26800865/fpart/1/vc/1

I will be sterilizing on 20PSI for 3h from now on instead of the usual 2h on 18PSI to see if I notice a difference. I'll say sterilizing grain may be trickier than we think, sometimes I wonder how effective the drier kinds of grain are about transferring heat compared to more well hydrated ones, I bet there's a huge difference. Just a hunch

I still believe its sterile technique that accounts for 90% of failure to contaminants. I work in a house with 12 cats and poorly insulated and made in the 40s. So constant air from outside enters and cats spreading contaminants all over the house.
But I still have like a 95%+ success rate. Of course I don't do to many bulk items that get re exposed to air. But when I do work I just spray the room I work in and then spray they room I enter from and then repeat 2 to 3 times and on the last one I spray before opening the door and then go in and sanitize myself.
Can never be to sterile lmao, during each spraying I setup for still air box work if needed or if I forgot something. Also allows time for air currents in the house to die down and stuff in the air settle
