You're welcome. I am in the wrong part of the world but short of advice from anyone else I guess keep looking in cow patties. Good luck!

So is the easiest way to tell if they contain the right substance is if they bruise blue?

For P. cyanescens I think that's not a bad rule but again I'm not familiar enough!

(Other mushrooms with blue coloration might be down to other processes eg boletes, blue Stropharia spp. but if you mean mushrooms like the one you have found where you live, quite possibly that's a good rule.)

youre in the right location, keep looking.
Panaeolus cyanescens looks different than antillarum. Usually has a tan and cracked cap, fibrils on the stem close to the cap and they readily bruise blue-black. Once you find a few you'll be able to identify them 20ft away. Keep an eye out for psilocybe cubensis too, especially after some good rains and heavy humidity.

I went looking again and found some other mushrooms that look similar but don't bruise blue/black, just a darker whiteish/tan. So I think they're the wrong ones again.
