identification

I live in Georgia and not too long ago we had a pretty nice rain followed with a nice hot day. A couple of buddies and I went out looking and the only thing we found were these mushrooms with white caps and white stems. The caps were anywhere from .5 to 3.5 inch caps and the stems were anywhere from .1 to 4 inches long. They made and jet black spore print and they were growing directly out of the cow manure. They didn't really bruise any color and the middle of the stems were white and had no color in them. Does anyone know anything about these, and is there a possiblity of finding cubes in the same field as these. Thanks

I found a mushroom similiar to what your describing in another post below this one. i posted pics so if it looks like mine than it might be an amanita. They are very deadly soo dont ingest it.

no they had black gills and were more like liberty caps

The mushroom you described sounds a lot like Panaeolus antillarum, a common yet inactive manure mushroom.

thanks and i looked it up you were right about the species. i didn't see it before because that species is not in the georgia species list. thanks for all the help

Deffinately sounds like antilluram,I saw them all weekend while I was picking cubes along with a few other pans Im unaware of keep looking and you should find some cubes just have patience and hit alot of fields not just the same one.Have fun,Robert

Amanitas also are completely different looking than most mushrooms, bright and colorful. I once saw a chipmunk munching on a yellow amanita muscaria and his eyes were wide as hell and he just sat there staring at me. haha. Happy trails. :smile:

Gumby Dude is correct and ShroomDawg Amanita's do not have black spores or gills. They have white. Try to refrain from Iding a mushroom if you have no idea wht the mushoom is. That kinda info could get someone killed.
