Albinism verse Leucism mushrooms...
    #26925471 - 09/08/20 11:05 PM (3 years, 4 months ago)

Some old genetics got refreshed from a multispore source. Nothing out of the ordinary initially, and then a unicorn appeared. A pure white cap amoung a chestnut field; followed by 2 more some space apart.

So, two of the three showed a significant lack of color. While I understand that "strains" and what not are a no no, but I'm more interested in the personal isolation of this. The mushroom on the left, displays all normal characters as expected except a white cap, fading to a significantly lighter color in the center.  While the one on the right shows no color in stem and cap, while both the spores and gils are lighter than expected. Spores had almost a purple hue to them.

Most "Albino" I see are clear spore, and does the mushroom on the right fall more into a higher degree of being leuristic than the lefty? Or may that he an actual albino and a leuristic from the same MS culture?

I should not that the mushroom on the right, has some nodules on the cap; giving me the first thought it was a very scary invader (Amanita Sp), but their is no tree for that symbiotic relationship needed, as well as it had dark purple not white spores.

So my question would be, am I trying to isolate leuristic genetics in one, and possibly albinism (with a knotty cap) in the other? Or just two forms of leucism, one displaying more than the other.
