Contaminated Agar?
    #26925198 - 09/08/20 07:13 PM (3 years, 4 months ago)

Not sure if my dishes are contaminated. This is my first time using agar and it has been over a week with no growth. I used a MS syringe in a SAB and have kept them around 70 degrees. I should also note I used pre poured PDA agar dishes and I’m starting to wonder if maybe there’s not enough nutrients in the agar or if my room temp is a problem.

70 degrees wouldnt be the problem. How much MS solution did you use?  Lots of times you will get those bacterial runs when you give the plate a "squirt" lol...try using a drop or two and using an inoculation loop. Streaking helps.

I cant tell for sure, but some of those white spots could be myc growth...like 10 oclock on the second photo outside of the bacterial area?

Would be interested to see other opinions as well...

I'd watch those white fluffy spots, you may be in luck.  I generally start losing hope after 2 weeks, and abandon and start over after 3 weeks.

70F is fine for culturing a Cubensis.

The stains may be bacteria, just keep on eye on them; or it could be fluids from where you shot the spore syringe.
