Gymnopilus luteus?

Found these mushrooms growing on a log. Smells of anise, maybe cinnamon.
Yellow/orange, slightly squamous caps with blue-green bruising. Younger ones are slightly inrolled at the margins.
Gills are notched, but attached to the stem. Exhibiting a stronger orange color than the rest of the mushroom.
Stem orange and bruising. The ring is a brown-orange color, I'm assuming from the collection of spores.
I'm taking spore prints on them, but I imagine they will mimic the color on the ring.
Let me know if you'd like to see more pics and thanks!

I'm pretty sure these are Gymnopilus luteus, please consider contacting Alan Rockefeller and sending him specimens for study, he is currently studying active Gymnopilus. just search his name in the user list at the top of the page if you're interested and send him a private message titled Active Gymnopilus

Thanks, folks. Think I've got the G. luteus down.
It would be exciting to help out in documenting this genus; I'll message him. I think part of the reason I've fallen so hard for fungus is because of the lack of definitive knowledge in the subject. The more I learn, the more I realize the overall lack of understanding of this glorious kingdom!

We haven't begun to scratch the surface when it comes to fungi, the next big cure-all will be from a mushroom 😀

I think that there are probably nutrients and bioactive compounds in mushrooms that modern humans are missing from their diet. Everyone should eat more mushrooms!
