lol no it’s the side of the house like way back where the ac box and stuff is. There’s a little alley type thing between our houses. I would’ve flipped out if it was my actual backyard.

I’m doubting whether it was clean now as I think I see maybe a rogue spot of aspergillus.
I could be wrong but that looks like the whole thing is gonna green out. The myc looks strange to me....

But all those drops sitting on the surface like that, the shininess, the brightness of the myc, the way it looks colonizing the tub....i cant put my finger on it but it looks off

nothing to see here
I’m going to start sorting through a few cultures over the next few weeks, hunting for a good set of genetics. Going to cut these two cultures into 5 pieces and divide them up into 10 jars I prepped yesterday. Also going to start a PE germ plate today

OK, so just to narrow my contam causes: It is non-contraversial that you can successfully both spawn to bulk and fruit tubs in trich infested room as long as the myc is healthy, right? I'm trying to convince myself that my physical surroundings aren't what's causing my contams, as that would be the hardest thing to change. I like to think a bacterial batch (thus weakening the myc) or some trich that was hiding there along is to blame.
I did smell test the jars (always do), but did not shake test, which I'm doing before any transfer or spawn to bulk now. Of course that doesn't do much for trich..

Yes, it's all about the technique. I have a bad black mold problem in my house. My sab is 6ft away from a moldy window, yet that black mold never shows on any of my grows. In any stage.
Dont do the snake test at 100% just note how fast ot recovers after your 30% shake. An extra shake isn't neccesary.

I think my technique is good as I hadn't had problems like this before, and nothing really changed in my technique. I don't think my flowhood is to blame either as I'm always doing open plate tests (both across the bottom face and on top of my jars to check different elevations). I just finished up doing a sterile G2G batch as a control group to see if anything goes wrong there.
I always monitor after the 30% shake, but it seems I'm still getting contams sneaking through, so I'm going to continue double checking for now. I don't care if it slows me down by a couple days. Some G2G batches get 100% success, some 0%. A lot more 0% than I'd like..

Ah bummer, will have to go back to spores if you’re right! Hey ho. Thanks for your reply though, appreciate you taking a look and sharing your thoughts. If anything starts to change for the worst I’ll toss it. Times like this I wish I had a garden so could bury it

Once your spawn is colonized and healthy it’s safe, but if your place is full of mold spores it’s much easier to get contaminated before getting to that point.
I’ve totally neglected maintaining my room and the contams have increased noticeably. When I first started it I left a plate out open for a little bit it would grow a few things but now it’s like the whole thing will be coated in mold.
I’m getting ready to do a serious cleaning now that it’s cooled off, besides being gross I’m sure it’s super unhealthy.

Got bored today and decided to experiment so I made 7 pint jars of wood lovers pf tek. I made a 50/50 mix of verm and wood pellets hydrated to field capacity. 2 cups of water and 4 cups of brf. Just got to sterilize them and then ill use some for spawn to a mini bale of hay and fruit some of them from cake. Also will be trying out a lc culture of pink and blue oyster from a vendor off etsy. Wanted to try a new vendor and was kinda low on funds when I placed the order a couple weeks ago. They even gave me a free syringe of the other lc I wanted so if all goes well ill order again
