Is this an opium poppy?

Alright, so basically what happened is that I spread some Lauren's Grape seeds I got off amazon around my backyard(north of England), in late April. Since they did not sprout when they were supposed to, I thought they were bunk and forgot about them. Fast forward to me coming back from holiday a few days ago and what do I find but a beautiful flower growing among the weeds. Needless to say I am ecstatic since I have never gotten to try any opioid before.
Could any of you kind people confirm whether this is indeed an opium poppy and if it is, when I am supposed to harvest it and how? There is only one flower on the plant and a few pods hanging, which I am not sure if they ever flowered or not since I wasn't around to watch them grow, like a dad that really likes his cigarettes. Thank you for the help, really appreciate it.

Yes. It's an Opium poppy or, Papaver somniferum.
Poppy seed has a habit of not germinating when or where you want them to. It takes some experience to do that. Usually just being persistent and sowing more than one time. Also keep the soil where you sowed them moist, to help them germinate.
For opium use, one waits for the the flower petals to drop off and then the pod that's left will swell. Probably a week after the petals drop, depends. The starfish-shaped bit at the top of the pod will stand up and look like a king's crown. At this stage people tend to harvest them to use.
If you want seed for the future then you should leave one pod to mature until the plant seems to be dying. You should be able to rattle the pod and hear the seeds inside. Be careful you don't tip the pod upside down when harvesting. The seeds come out of vents around the top of the pod. The vents open up when the pod dries.

Thanks that great. Couple more things if that's alright.
I have read that to get the latex that can be smoked once dried, I have to make small incisions or prick it with a needle to avoid the latex falling inwards and leave it overnight to ooze it out. Which of the two is better from your experience and do I just scrape it and leave it on a piece of paper to dry?
Also, problem is that the weather is shit around here, so I am worried it may be washed away by rain. Is there any other way to get the good stuff or should I just wait for a good weather forecast after the petals are gone and do it then?

Lancing will do the job. You just need to practice a little to make sure you don't slice them too deep. You'll know when you've gone too deep, as no latex will flow outwards.
Only need to go a few millimeters deep.

You can also collect the wet latex using a teaspoon or similar and let it dry on there instead of on the plant.
Collecting latex is time consuming and you don't get a lot of product. You can just skip lancing and make a tea from the entire pod. Or lance, collect latex for use, then let pod to mature and collect them for tea.
