Some interesting stuff in those link psilo posted.
I had no idea there was a p subcubensis. Identical except for some microscopic differences. Could explain why some cubes seem to have slightly different effects.
It also says natal is closely related to aztecorum.

Grim im pretty sure yours and akas prints came from me. Which came from zifozonke but they were my prints from the fruits I grew grew from him. Not like I care who is or isn't using my prints, just trying to cohesively describe who has what genetics.

Lol, so they all came from zif?
There were some comments and stuff sprinkled through from people that said they got them from a different vendor.
I'm just trying to provide an outsider's perspective, a set of fresh eyes if you will. If we know where they came from originally and all that stuff it's gonna be helpful to just say that they all came from that one SA vendor rather than saying it's 2 vendors when it's just one. Idk if that makes sense, so I'm sorry if I'm missing the point or just saying the same shit.
I'll drop it after this comment

So I have this
that I've just been sitting on. Does anyone know if it's actually natalensis? Or is this a cube? If it's actually natalensis I'm waiting for y'all to figure this shit out first lol. Thanks to everyone doing the research on this topic.

Well so far natalensis is coming up normal. No crazy overlay or anything. Maybe I just got lucky with my culture. Casing was peat/verm 50/50 gypsum and lime. Also used coir/verm/manure pellets/straw pellets/gypsum for sub

There’s a vendor that sells that separate from natalensis but i think people have grown it and they seemed to be the same thing. Idk for sure though.

I just off the South African vendor site. They clearly consider the psilocybe cubensis vat. Natal Super Strength and the Psilocybe Natalensis to be different species.
It’s possible that grows in this thread have both species...

The one vendor has a “natalensis cyan” as well. I forget who it was but somebody recently posted they had bought all three versions a few weeks back.
It could kinda make sense the extreme difference in results here if somebody stabilized a reliable version and called it super strain. Kinda like ks/ksss.
Although them being p natalensis and then a cube from natalensis area seems more likely.

Yeah I was thinking that my fruits look different than some of the natal I’ve seen here. The color of the cap is different. And I don’t have that crazy overlay everyone else is getting

I think yours are looking good celestial.
A few for sure have the natalensis look

The mottled caps are the only thing different on yours but that could be anything. You’ll know soon enough though, the mature fruits are pretty distinct.

I encourage someone else to try a cube cross. Im pretty sure I did it but got caught up on other projects to continue and lost track of my plates. My cross tub looked similar to the "melmac" I've been growing but when harvested had that distinct dark green bruising that we see with natal.

So, I got just under an oz from 1q spawn. Super long, thin, with penis caps. I tested multiple speicimans for strength. Not impressed at all. Brusing seemed a little under normal. Didn't come near the strength of some weird melmac/pe I have multiplying at the moment so I'm gracefully bowing out of growing these again. Thanks for the fun.

I'm germing some pe6 for a cross. This round of plates was a little heavy on the agar so they're real stiff, im hoping they germ in a timely manner if at all
All I need to do is put them on the same plate and make transfers where there is clear combining happening? Or is combining colonized spawn the way to go?

Right on dude. I just dumped equal 50/50 spawn in a tub though. Yeild was weak but sure looked like a cross. Maybe I'll take one more clone off my last flush to try it again.

Psilocybe natalesis and Psilocybe cubensis var. Natal Super Strength are two completely different species. Both from KwaZulu Natal South Africa. P.cubensis var. Natal Super Strength was isolated by mycologist Jon Mac Gillivray along with Copelandia cyanescens var. Natal Blue Meanie in 2016. Consider that all cleared up now since I am said Mycologist
