Bacteria mostly I'm afraid
I don't even see any mycelium in there actually, although the glare makes it hard.

Here's your likely problem, spores generally aren't clean. You can succeed that way but you're relying on luck.
Next time take the spores to agar first until you have a clean culture, then inoculate with a wedge.

The absolute biggest reason for contams (at least following this forum) is the use of vendor syringes directly. Sure agar will add 2-3 weeks to the first grow you do but after that not only do you grow faster, but you wont waste your time.

i'd say the main source of contamination is failure in sterile tek maneuvers but yeah, those syringes are far far less reliable than good old cultures on agar.

I hear you. But ponder this, does it matter how sterile you are working if your syringe has a minimum amount of contams in it? IMO if you work on agar you cannot help but get better on sterile tek because you can see your failure within a couple weeks, instead of going all the way to spawning.

Just because youre working with agar doesnt mean you will inheritantly get better at sterile tekniq.
You can rock agar and still be a

Yes ofc, but with a dirty syringe it doesn't matter... I should have said that agar is very important and helpful, not a panacea for contams (because there isnt any, its the whole package). It is just a tool, but a very very important tool.
Let me put it this way: Dirty syringe is still dirty. Like you can make a SAB, take a shower, change clothes, not touch anything you shouldn't touch, flame the needle, etc... Guess what? Syringe is still dirty

You do realize that you are talking to folks who have certainly pondered this, right. That's what we do. We ponder all things myco. Yes, a dirty syringe is dirty no matter what. If you're good you can probably clean it on agar and still work with it but, i digress. I get your point.

I know. You probably have hundreds of growths, if not thousands. You and all TC's for sure know so much more than me about this hobby and I learn from you every time I visit a thread where any of you have commented on someones grow or where you share about your own grows. There is no debating that! Im just saying something many of your peers have said in other thread.
Im really a believer in the potential of agar I guess. Sure I envy people that get a clean syringe and follow sterile procedure well enough that they get fruits out of it from the get go. But for every person like that you have many others who are like "I followed the tek, soaked for x hours, PCd for Y hours and then inoculated in SAB... Is this green stuff normal?" And then it turns out that yeah they have no idea how good the syringe was to begin with, so basically anything could have gone wrong but its impossible to know.
But ofc you also have people that use agar but still dont get it to work. So its not as black an white. The whole package is probably necessary for repeated success.

For years i would use a spore syringe to knock up some honey and water solution. Once the LC was colonized i'd use it to knock up grain jars. Any good or decent jars i'd keep and fruit or expand. I'd toss the shit jars. I would expect a good % of spawn to get tossed and not expnaded.
Over all... was i successful? Yes. But with horrible effciency in the spawn dept. But i didnt know how bad until i finally switched to agar. Which for thise who dont know; at one time around here agar was considered "advanced" and not many ppl utilized it.
So, i switched to agar awhile ago but... once i did, my spawn production became much more effcient. It's nice not needing to dump a bunch of sour grain. That shit takes a good deal of energy to prep.

Red: i feel ya.
Lot: Word.
And we have even mentioned the benefit of keeping particular genetics in service. Agar is superior to spores in so many ways. It's simply the most practical way to consistently farm rainbows of superior quality without need of an outside source.
