Basically: only have 2 cakes right now. SGFC started smelling funky but cakes smelled fine (bacteria got in perlite) so I moved cakes today and put them each in a 2L washed out soda bottle with some holes poked in and some perlite.
Now, I notice the cakes aren't drying very evenly, the top stays wet and the sides seem to be bruising a bit and drying, and I literally have no experience but it is my goal to save these cakes.
These are my options I thought of:
1) Leave the cakes be, and mist them when the tops dry however long that takes. 2) Fan much more so I can mist more often. 3) Clean the SGFC with some soapy water (don't have bleach) and add new perlite then put the cakes back in.
If anyone can help save my cakes, it would be super appreciated. What do you guys recommend?
edit: they were birthed 5 days ago as well, if that information changes anything. I also thought of redunking them, but I feel like that's messing with them too much and I have no idea what I'm doing here.

I don't do cakes but seems it would be best to clean and return to a fruiting chamber that you know works.

Say no more dude. Quick question: can I use the perlite I have at the bottom of the 2L bottles? Not sure I have enough perlite left without that.

If you feel the perlite in the bottles is clean sure. Again I don't do cakes but you should have enough moisture in your cakes to get your first flush. I don't even dunk to get my second flush. Again I do bulk tho. I wouldn't mess with them as much as possible the reroll could cause contamination and fuck up everything when it wasn't even necessary.
