I have a drinking problem

I drank just about all of a fifth if whiskey by myself last night and it's 1pm and I can still barely walk. I stayed up all night drinking and rambling about nothing. My father and grandparents are alcoholics and I feel like I'm just becoming them. Idk what to accomplish with this but I just need to admit it to admit it somewhere

As cliche as it is to say, admitting the problem is the first step.
You've at least identified that it's a big problem. Now it's onto the next step, which is figuring out how to get it corrected (or at least, for now, improved)

I drank a fifth of vodka yesterday, I'm fine as I take loads of herbs & vitamins and mix the vodka with Gatorade. It's the malnutrition and dehydration that kills people.
Don't beat yourself up unless you're a abusive, whiny drunk. I'm a happy drunk, so I don't dwell on it. Hydrate & get some exercise.

I hate to say it but if you drink a fifth of whiskey you have a hard drinking problem.
Maybe discuss it at the Alcoholics Anonymous support thread of our Health forum. Its packed with people who can speak with expertise about how alcohol became a big thing inj their lives.
Drinking a fifth of booze without a tolerance is mostlu unpleasant if not fatal unless you have a tolerance, and if you have a tolerance, you are on the spectrum of having an alcohol problem.
Acknowledging you might have a problem is the archetypal first step, which you're doing here.
They are good people in that thread. AA is a bit of a cult but, that actually helps to kick it.

Thanks, I feel stupid for posting this but you guys words make me feel better. I'm not abusive or even really hungover but there's better things to be doing with my life than drinking alone until I blackout.

When I quit drinking it was the best thing I ever did. My life turned around. I found success and maintained consistency in my life. I went about 2 years without a drop. If you have a strong tolerance be careful with the taper and withdrawls.
Best of luck in your goals.

Hypertension, coronary heart disease, ischemic stroke, cancer of the respiratory system, as well as cancers of the digestive system, liver, breast and ovaries aren’t uncommon for alcoholics. An alcohol overdose occurs when there is so much alcohol in the bloodstream that areas of the brain controlling basic life-support functions—such as breathing, heart rate, and temperature control—begin to shut down.
Sounds like you have a problem too.

Obviously Cirrhosis of the liver is major killer of heavy drinker, but severe pancreatitis isn't that far behind. Best slow down and stop sooner rather than later.

Guys, drinking was never a problem for me, but I quit drinking after my best friend died a few weeks ago and alcohol had a part in his death.
Guys I'm 47, so almost 50, which is older than most of you.
That means that most of my friends and acquantances are older than you too.
Almost without exception, EVERYBODY who liked to drink when we were younger, has some level of trouble with the bottle now. For most, when the bottle opens sometimes more comes out than they would choose for, for some, the bottle opens sooner and more often, at all.
Alcohol GETS YOU.
It makes older people dimwitted and ugly because it prematurely ages skin and brain alike.
It hollows you out and the vacuum is filled with more alcohol.
You go to the store, before you in line, more often than not, you have someone putting 8 pint cans of lager or 2 bottles of wine and some crisps on the counter. OK, thats the plan for the evening then, being bottle fed with some crisps.
Alcohol sucks in the longer run.
It sloooowly reels you in.
You start in your teens and stays with you in your twenties, thirties, forties, fifties sixties and seventies. Thats a LOT of decades, thats a LOT of decay. A lot of opportunity to develop a substance abuse crisis or an alcohol accident, such as acute intoxication, drunk driving, getting in a fight because of something stupid you said or did to a stranger or slamming facefirst into the curb for tripping over your own feet.
Remember, alcohol and smoking, of substance abuse, are the biggest killers.

My good friend has a brother who is near the end stage of alcohol abuse. He's 47 and has been drinking heavy for decades, but still was able to manage his life. The last 3-4 years has been straight down hill for him. At this point he's drinking 16 to 18 beers per day and hardly eats any food at all. I'm amazed he's been able to even go as long as he has with that deadly lifestyle. He could die any day at this point.
His parents tried everything they could to save him the last few years, but it's been a lost cause because he doesn't want to stop drinking. His family is already prepared for his death because it's obviously going to happen in the near future.
This wasn't the plan he had for himself, he once had his own business, home, car, GF, son and grandchildren.

I never had a drinking problem, but when I started taking kratom, I stopped drinking almost completely and have heard the same from other people. Replacing 1 habit with another isn't always the best thing to do though.
Also as soon as I started distilling my own spirits I stopped drinking too.
Maybe you can distill your own spirits and drink only your homemade stuff and supplement with kratom the other times.

everyone freaks out at me because i look like i'm 20 apparently despite being 35. i've never drank a drop or done cigs. i'm not saying correlation = causation or anything, buuuuuut....
interestingly, the same went for my parents too until i left the house - they looked pretty dang young for their age, especially my mom, who people often mistook for my older sister (she usually got mistaken for her mid 20 to low 30s despite being in her mid 50s - she dyed her grey hairs and that was about it other than the typical female skin care products.)
i noticed that she looks a lot closer to her age now that i've left the house, and that they've take up social drinking. again, correlation, but i find it interesting that soon after they started taking up drinking the occasional glass of wine and (very very occasional) cigarette smoking, both of them started showing notable wrinkles and other signs of age. they both definitely look like their in their 50s now, if a fairly youngish 50s. it was kind of shocking to me, since it happened within the space of only a few years.
ironically, if anything i might be looking a bit younger due the weight loss i've had. that or i'm possibly vampirically sucking the years off them. ';.;' (j/k)
drinking is just hard on the body. i don't care what "science" says about the occasional glass of wine being good for your heart. eat some damn red grapes. same benefits, none of the downsides. (and get plenty of rest. drinking is very, very bad on a good nights sleep, and that's always bad for your health.)

I'm in my early 30s and get carded for booze all the time despite having been a very heavy drinker in previous years. i still drink a good amount, like 5-5-7 standard drinks, once a week or so. can still pass for 20

lol, that's because there's hefty penalties for making a mistake, just saying. ;p to the cashier, personally. as in, we're the ones who have to pay the fine. we have a vested interest in not making a mistake. (also a lot of stores require carding anyone who looks 30 years old or younger, or even 40 years old or younger, etc.)
just saying that it's not exactly conclusive proof there.
i literally have people mistake me for a high schooler though. as in, they ask what high school i go to. or freak out when they find out when i'm older than most of my coworkers lol. it's pretty funny. the oldest people ever think i am is like 24, and most think it's around 19-20. XD
