Can you post better pictures, maybe of the caps? The first photo is too shady to see any detail, and the second photo is too blurry to see any detail

Looks like a woodloving psilocybe. Better pics and spore print would be nice to see.

Is there any dung in the woodchips?  Almost look like Panaeolus cyanscens.
But definitely get better pics and spore prints.  Interesting find for sure

Unfortunately by the time I made it home they were bent dried out I laid them out for a Spore print One Drop of distilled water on the caps and after about 3 hours I had a very light Spore print dark gray almost black but that very subtle hint of rust color  but even the caps ended up bruising. I'll upload those pics tonight after  work

Those look ALOT like panaeolus cyanescens.

I agree with bloody, was there any dung in those wood chips? If those aren't cyans I'd be really surprised. Also....have pan cyans been reported in KS?

Yea those look to be an interesting Panaeolus.  Go back for some fresh ones in a few days and report back with some new photos.

You need to let print atleast 12 hrs.  24hrs for a really good print

So to answer the dung question. There's a high probability that dung is mixed in with those wood chips. They  were deposited after flash flooding. The area is surrounded by farmland cattle grazing land at the very bottom of the hill is where these were found about a hundred and fifty yards away is  a highly fertilized ball field  the other direction further down the hill about 30 maybe 40 ft is the creek that was flooded what's runs through about cost of 30 miles of wild grazing land. However I did not notice any dung, they were not growing off cow patty or anyting I left several pins that it started and went back today to check on their progress and did not see any at all however it did get a lot hotter this morning and afternoon I will definitely check out the patch again tomorrow and after the next rains.

Thank you guys for all your support and time I really do appreciate the kind and quick response I'll surely Bring the actual digital camera with me instead of this $30 4 megapixel smartphone just to make it a bit easier for you guys

There's a good possibility it could be cyans but there's a good possibility of you discovering an unidentified species too! Take alot of in situ pics man! If you think you took too many....take some more. We'll all be here waiting to see what this becomes so pleeeaaaassseeee keep us updated dude!!!!

According to mushroom observer there's no currently documented finds of cyans in your area. Just wanted to add that :justdontknow:

Hopefully Alan will chime in on these finds.  Definitely interested in seeing what these are.

Itd be a good idea to get some specimens dried, good spore prints, to send to someone who might be interested in scoping them out too.

Thanx again guys

So does that mean  I should be  doubtful they are cyans? Or document them on mushroom observer as a possibility ?

yeah definitely a good idea to post on MO. If cyans, it's interesting. If not cyans, it's interesting.
