Maybe stagnant water in your perlite. Smells in this hobby give off a lot info. If something smells funky chances are something funky is going on.
And your cakes look good. The way they should 👍
Thanks Yesum. I think you're right, it's stagnated water or something. Although, I cannot locate the smell as much as I try.
It seems to permeate from the top of the walls of the tub, but then I try wiping it down, and smell nothing bad. I even smell the towel I wipe with, nothing.
After I sprayed, there was no funky smell whatsoever. I even picked up a sample of perlite and smelled it. No idea.
Maybe it's just the plastic or something, seriously no clue but I suppose if it doesn't come from the cakes and isn't strongly associated with anything I guess I shouldn't be concerned?
Any tips or advice?

Tip for people who don't want rats/mice eating all your tossed grain in backyard fucking up your garden.
Pour moldy grain jars and spent substrate into a paper bag and put it into your green bin. They are biodegradable and they keep your grain from getting all over the walls of your garbage bin.

You probably have some bacteria in your perlite water but it has to build up enough to really smell it, so when you put the lid on, it builds up near the top and goes away once you open the lid and release the build up. Totally normal. Nothing to worry about As long as your cakes aren’t directly touching the perlite (they shouldn’t be). I like to soak the perlite in bleach water for 1/2 an hour and then rinse with a strainer between flushes to sanitize.

Will MEA work with ganoderma lucidum ? How about Hericium Erinaceus ? Could I get some pointers on what would be a better recipe? I received some cultures recently and I'm excited to cultivate them before I put them to grain I'd like to make some agar transfers first and some slants too I've read BRF agar and PDYA works well but some experienced testimony is appreciated Unfortunately given the circumstances I likely won't be able to receive materials like potato dextrose and nutritional yeast in a prompt manner but if absolutely necessary I will do what I can. Any advice is appreciated.

Grain soak water is an option too.

@Faustian: Primal's Experimental PE Grain Inoc>Agar Isolation Log (with pics and paragraphs) An excellent reason for grain broth.
So...What if some noob, asking for a friend , didn't dehydrate his mush enough the first time and dehydrated a second time to cracker dry? Could that be a reason I'm, uh my friend, is up to 6g without anything significant happening?
It's RW, apologies Pasty, another noob abusing yer excellent strain!
Edit: just made Mushboy tea, 7g with ginger tea and honey...doncha know!

Welcome to the NFL, rookie lol. This is my first time/experience cultivating golden teachers. I decided to use the monotub approach. I’m about 5-6 days in from spawning w/ my substrate. I just need some brutally honest feedback on how my tub looks. I’m seeing some coloring that is making me nervous so I went ahead and took a peak to snap a pic. For some more details, I’ve noticed a good amount of condensation buildup on the interior walls of the tub. I heard it was bad to open up the tub, so I haven’t fanned or misted (yet). Seems my tub is adequately hydrated (condensation). If any you guys have any worldly advice, it would be much appreciated. I have a lot to learn 🤘.
Thanks in advance!

Yeah, one of mine looked like this and a few days later the mold turned green. Spooky stuff. Make sure to clean that place good.

I use oat jars. Thinking about doing a ton of them today and tomorrow. What’s the longest you’ve gone before using a prepped jar?

Best practices is to use asap but I've actually been playing around with this as of latley. For sure I've had jars laying around for a month or more even in some cases and got the jars to colonize completely. And they produced fruits just as they would of if I had spawned them sooner

So had to go away for the weekend, knew there was gonna be a spore drop but convinced myself it would've only been starting and that it wouldn't be too bad...

On the up side it's the best 1st flush I've ever had 😂 Never gotten a canopy like that before.

Well guys, unfortunately, the bacteria smell has gotten significantly stronger but is still not emanating from the cakes.
Now is the decision. Do you recommend I make isolating 2L fruiting chambers and go with that and forget the SGFC? Just leave things be?
I think this is because my wife won't let me keep the temps very cool, so they are pretty high, that and maybe overmisting.
Anyways, what do you guys recommend? Remove the cakes before bacteria may get in them (if not too late).

You could just clean your sgfc and sanitize the perlite. Moving to a new FC isn’t going make the smell go away unless you use different/clean perlite.
