Fusarium or just spores? How to distinguish?
    #26916919 - 09/04/20 07:41 AM (3 years, 4 months ago)

Second grow. Brazil Corumba. Rye grains took >2 months to colonize. Once mixed into the substrate, started pinning before fully colonized. Harvested a flush, then noticed this pale purple area 12-24 hours later. Could be spores? Veils had broken on a couple of fruits. But if there’s a chance it’s Fusarium, probably best to throw it out. If it is fusarium, are the fruits safe to consume? The base of each fruit was cut off before drying and there was no noticeable discoloration on the fruits.

Thanks for helping out a newbie.

It looks like spore dust to me, if caps opened near there its probably spore dust. You could clean a latex glove and wipe your finger on it, if it comes off it's spores. If fruits grow from any contaminated medium they are probably safe to eat as long as the contamination isn't on the fruit, if the fruit survives you will. They have a much weaker immune system than us
