AA 941 or 75x?

I want to upgrade from my multiple presto setup soon. Been searching for used units but haven't had much luck. So I'll probably splurge for a new unit. Which would you recommend and why? I'm leaning toward the 75x even though its twice the price as the 941. Main reason is not being tethered to a stove, less babysitting, can set a timer, ect. Although for the price I could get two 941's. Thoughts?

100% makes the price worth it in my eyes. Being able to walk away from it and do other tasks is so beneficial.

Not meaning to hijack but how many 3.5lb bags (what is this in quarts?) can you fit in 41qt? Sorry we dont use the imperial system here.

You can fit fourteen 4.2lb bags, so you might be able to squeeze in an extra 1-2 at 3.5lbs. And one quart is effectively 1 lb (it's not exact, but close enough).

I was in the same scenario as you. Keep watching eBay and you can eventually find one at a relatively decent price. I just got a 930 for $400. Both have pros and cons, but for you I would say the 1975x in this case. I would’ve gone that route but I just couldn’t dip that deep for needing something now. 941 still selling $600 on eBay too. I say the sterilizer because you have Prestos. If you’re doing agar you can just heat up the Presto while your 75x is going on it’s own.

I have the 25x it works great I also have the 23qt presto. Honestly I use my 25x way more then the presto now once you get it warm it is sit and forget. also it is very very silent compared to my presto on a gas stove and iv noticed my bill went down majorly. I might sell mine while these price gougings going on. Really want a 75x now.

No that's from a Canadian distributor, good luck finding a presto let alone an AA. All distributors in North America have been hit with a wave of assholes thinking that they can survive on jam and pickles once the toilet paper runs out.

I just bought an AA75X Electric, I got it for $880 shipped and with tax, there was a 10 day delay. This was 2 weeks ago.

Ordered from ebay: https://ebay.ca/usr/balkowitsch . Red Hill General store seems to be a major vendor as well:

These were still in stock for a little while, you may be able to find one here or there if you look hard enough. When I was looking for a PC I had the option to buy a sterilizer instead but opted out because I didn’t have a second PC at the time.

I have the 941, you don’t want to put these units on your stove top.. you’ll need a burner to go with it, if you live in a city you probably don’t want to have a propane burner outside in case of snoopy neighbours. And the electric plates(even the good ones) will take upwards to an hour to reach pressure...
One thing is I’ve heard since the hearing unit in the 75x you lose a decent amount of room, I can fit 9 5lb bags in my A41.
The 75x will be a good Investment imo. Save you lots of time babysitting making sure things are right. It’s definitely worth the extra imo, I plan to sell my 941 once my funds are right and get myself a 75x.

I just use my burner in my garage, doesn’t have to be used outside. I mean the heat sucks and mines only 65k btu, but that’s assuming you have a garage. Snoopy neighbors see that your canning, learn to make some jams and jellies and have some on hand in case someone really gets curious or get a couple from a farmers market with no label and pass them out lol jk.

Dang, the pandemic making this hobby difficult for lots of people, especially just getting into the hobby. Years back I could get a vintage AA for $50 now they selling for nearly $300 if in good condition. I may sell my 915 when my 930 gets here. 14 quarts one run is good enough for me and 7 on the presto. Heck could sell the presto for $150 lol.

Nobody does, it doesn't meet canadian electrical standards. You have to use a third party shipper like shipito. They give you an American address for shipping within the US and then they ship it north. I've already asked shipito if they would have a problem sending them and they're good to go.

I think I'm gonna go with my initial idea of getting a 75x. Still holding out I'm gonna randomly find a used one locally.

Keep checking eBay, you’ll find a decent deal. Amazon too, one may pop up. There’s one up now but never mind look at the shipping date. May as well as get it from manufacturer website.

There's the timer you want for a 75x. It's the same timer i use. You also want a heavy duty extentsion cord that's rated for 1850 watts.

Bingo! I have used timers and cords rated to handle 1650W.... dont do it. They all melted. These timers are rocking.
Quote:

Yup.
They have 2 different style timers you can choose from. Make sure you get the 24hr and not the 7 day. The 24 hr model has a countdown feature. That's what i use. Its awesome.
And now that i think about it... my ext cords are prolly rated for 1875W.... but i think yall get what i'm saying.
