Using liquid mycelium culture to grow outdoors
    #26915759 - 09/03/20 02:09 PM (3 years, 4 months ago)

Hi There,
Recently some liberty caps have been popping up so I got a couple spore prints and currently have some on some agar plates. I plan to then use the colonised agar plates to inoculate some liquid culture.
I was wondering if it would be possible to pour this liquid culture in a grassy area, such as my back garden or a field to then have mushrooms pop up in a couple years.
I currently don't have a pressure cooker or any grain bags so it would be cool if it could go straight from liquid to outdoors.
This is mainly a thought experiment right now, but if there is a chance it could work that would be great.

I've seen plenty of folks throwing out spent/contaminated substrates and having that fruit outdoors, but I've never heard of someone just dumping LC somewhere.  You could probably increase your chances of success by concentrating it in a smaller area and putting it on something that you'd otherwise use as substrate.  If it's going to work, you'll probably see something within a few weeks or months rather than a couple years.

Very low chance of success but can't say you didn't try.
