That looks like the myc got matted from being too wet and then drying out. Try to keep the lid or bag on more next time so humidity stays higher, and remember misting isn’t to water the shrooms it’s just to keep some water beads on top so they can evaporate and trigger pins.

Hmm that’s a good bit of information for me. So should I typically not mist much after pinning?

Have to try the potency tho.. would duck if they are super weak..

How often does it happen to you guys, that you grow or get a culture that is very very weak?

Think I could of waiting until tomorrow and maybe get a full canopy or atleast closer to one. But didn't want to risk getting spores all over them.

Also I fucked up the substrate to bad trying to put it back I had to throw it away:shrug:

For your second tub this looks amazing! But on your next run you should put a liner in the bottom. Basically either tape the tub with duct tape all around the buttom. From the bottom of the tub, and up about 4” or whatever the height/depth of your substrate is when you mix your spawn and substrate. Basically when light gets to the side or the bottom of your sprawn once it’s placed in the tub, it’ll trigger pinning, and you will get shroomies growing underneath the tub, on the sides, and all over everything except the top, now you may yield a little more that way, but I’m my
Opinion that’s taking nutrients away from the pins that pop on the top, and you can always get a second to third flush or more. No need to waste the hassle of pulling the sub out and harvesting the bottom and potentially destroying the sub just for 3-10g out of a couple oz you have already.  You can do this by getting a black plastic bag and cutting it out and taping it before you drop your substrate and spawn and mix it up, or you can add duct tape or even both.
I’ve seen some guys tape their boxes off and spray paint them.

Light causing side pins is old misinformation.
Side pins are from evaporation from a better microclimate at the side if the tub than the top. Thats where a liner comes in, it stays against the sub keeping the surface the best spot to pin

Liners and spray painting the sides to avoid light coming in doesn't do anything ime. If you want your mushies to grow on top of the sub it's all about fieldcap and surface conditions. All my tubs are transparent, with no liners. Now that I got field capacity and surface conditions down, there'd hardly any sidepins any more.

Nice tub there Pud! That's your wild Thailand print?

I can’t figure out if I found a new super effective way to fuck up or if the wedge was covered in mold spores.

Excuse me while I go dump out my lions mane lc. :frown:

best part- they got knocked up on july 25. less than 40 days from syringe to harvest. I'm about to be reading all day on cloning & liquid culture and how best to preserve these guys.

that wedge reminds me of one of those old claymation christmas specials, like a little lonesome christmas tree standing in a blizzard of bullshit

Gotta do what you gotta do to get to that flush!

Replaced the threads the next day, simply sawed it off and welded another bolt on it with a double tig weld. Was a lot faster than waiting on a new bolt

Plus I wouldn't even know where to order it, it's a very specific piece...
