Contam or nah?

So I have inoculated close to 2 weeks ago, room temps varied from 65-80F... There is dense myc growth at bottom in medium patches in all bags, and they're getting more firm...
https://files.shroomery.org/files/20-35/881177430-IMG_20200830_174640.jpg] [/url]
I'm wondering is the greyish fluffy coating on top just myc starting to slowly grow, or much much worse :o Contam Temps have been 65F and a bit lower in the past few days so there's that...
Could anyone tell from experience if it's myc or contam...
Will post more photos to follow up :3
Thank you

I see what you mean. The color is a bit grey and it looks a little mushy. There may be some bacterial issue. How long did it take to grow to that size from the time you saw initial growth? I think mold is a little faster and more aggressive than what you are seeing here. IT could be myc but with bacterial contamination. But give it some more time so it becomes mroe apparent.
What was the method of inoculation? Did you use Agar? how long did you PC the bags?

Can't tell much from photo but if it's a premade bag you have a 90% chance of throwing it away. What I saw on this site after 2 weeks the jars are 100% ready to go.

Exactly, my jars by day 10 they are fully colonized and I even shake them twice to make sure that they can recover and Im not spawning shit. I have a feeling this bag was inoculated straight with MS syringe from vendor or something. OR maybe even bought ready to go.

I don't get it. Only excuse I can think of is they ship 300 bags a day and quality control went out the window. If you make the bags / jars yourself the chances are better. Bags still work but when they're too wet they take FOREVER to colonize. Months!

It was 2 or 3 days since it appeared...
I used a spore syringe for inoculation...
However... Other bag was a 2.5kg bag... By mistake I forgot to squeeze some solution thru to cool the syringe before innoc... It didn't have a Ship... So it burned a 2x2mm hole, I tried to keep it steady and then put mycropore tape ASAP...
This 650g bag with Ship doesn't have the moisture inside, however they do have similar grey growth...
Prayer goes out to the myc/fungus gods...
EDIT: looking at them now, 2-3 hours later, it seems to have grown... More white... It's either contam... But my suspicion is the myc is just growing stronger...
Will post photos tomorrow when I'm in town as Internet is not good here!
Wish em' good health

Aye, they have a bit of moisture for sure! However I believe the combination of temps and moisture for sure have something to do with delayed growth... Even then a lot of the solution from syringes went to middle of bag... I tried my best My first try and growing BTW...
Anyhow... Taking so long for the myc to grow is not good for the chances of contam to appear...
I wonder how many grams of grain go into a quart jar.....

A cup dry grains per quart like RR says in the video. If the bag didn't contam you are still growing my friend! It might take 3 months to colonize but don't throw in the towel yet.

Hey, it looks fine man, if it were a contamination, judging by the look of it, it would have to be cobweb mold and if you noticed this 2-3 days ago, the cobweb would have basically taken over the whole bag by now.
Looks more like mycelium than anything to me, I'd say you're good.

In a quart jar of hydrated and sterilized whole wheat kernels, filled to the point where the jar starts to taper in, will be somewhere between 400-550 grams depending on how well you hydrated them.
It's normal for a MS syringe to take up to 2 weeks to germinate, that's not uncommon, especially if your temps were going down to 65F, try to keep your temps in the mid to high 70's.

Aye! I concur! I just got a heating fan today, on from a few meters, so temps are between 74-79F now :3
Will post once more after a few days to finish this up ^_^

Or something along those lines... It's weird, the contrast between the pure white mycelium and this...
Will wait it out anyways...
Anybody have input?

I dont think cobweb but probably some other mold and definitely some bacterial issue. I wouldn't spawn that bag at all. And for next grow I would take my syringe the agar route.

Like I said if it was a premade bag it was delivered too wet to begin with hence the bacterial contam. I no see cobweb. Fruit it outdoors best chance now.
