My grains on the top always stall

So as you can see in the picture, a couple of the grains on the top are not 100% finished and it has been like this for a week. This seems to happen to a lot of my jars - my guess is because I live in one of the most extreme deserts of North America and the FAE coming in through the polyfill is going to be the driest conceivable.
Even if I wait longer it won't matter.
Do you guys think these will be okay to use? Any idea on how I can fix this or does it even need to be fixed?
Thank you so much!

Might be kind of hard for me to see from the pic, but are those just pressed up against the glass? Sometimes I'll get grains that are pressed right up against the glass, and that side won't colonize. I've used those jars with little issue.

You can flip the jar over before shaking up. If it`s uncolonized, it may separate from the rest, and get it out. But i bet there is some colonization on them

Yes it won't matter, like Arthur said it's grains pressed against the glass (and very often mistaken for "bacterial grains") or it's simply grains that have dried out a bit. Just pick those out when you go to spawn or don't, it won't hurt anything. But whatever you do don't wait for them to colonize lol

Thank you guys I appreciate it.
I was having some problems with contamination but now I realize it is because I was doing the bucket tech where I would pour hot water in and I think I was partially sterilizing it.
I think my grain was fine all along.

Nah, with standard bucket tek you won`t hold the temperature over time you need for partially sterilization, not even true pasteurization.

It was probably the spawn, you don't have to get substrate sterilized (PC) or even truly pasteurized as the bucket tek is tried and true. Filthy even put out this dope bulk version

I live in an arid environment. My grain can lose moisture content quickly. Sometimes I keep the foil on my jars (but tented to allow GE) until I notice leap off. Your grain doesn't look like it lost much water content during colonization.

So do you think these are okay? I realize my picture is not the best but I do have other jars that are basically done except for a few half colonized grains on the top.

Spawn it if you want. Or don't. Your cultures, your choice. If you're concerned and think it's risky then put some control measures in place to reduce risk.

Just for the record the classic bucket tek is partial sterilization, although that’s kind of a strange term. You use boiling water so it’s hotter than pasteurization temps but not hot enough for long enough to sterilize.
If you’re using coir/verm the bucket tek is g2g but if you were using hpoo or some other additives then it could’ve been causing problems

Yeah I’d count that as finished for sure.
For a long time I couldn’t get most of my jars to colonize on top, but I’m talking like the entire top layer of wbs was bare.
I live in a super dry area and also had made my ge hole a little big so they were just drying out. Tripling the tyvek filters or adding mp tape fixed it.

Perhaps you can help me?
So I took 4 jars the looked like this and spawn them to bulk and let it colonize and waited a few weeks.
Horrible trike everywhere.
I'm quite confident that I pasteurized the substrate correctly as I used to meet thermometer and got it between 140 and 160 degrees for an hour.
So that means I had clean spawn and clean substrate and still got trike.
There are only two possibilities that I can think of:
1. Because I live in the desert, I use an extra cup of water so instead of doing one brick of cocoa coir, eight cups of vermiculite and 16 cups of water I do 17 cups of water.
2. The room that I am sticking these tubs in is filled with trike.
It has to be the second one right? Does anyone have any experience putting a fully 100% correct done monotub to colonize in a room that previously had several tubs with infection?
Do you absolutely need to scrub down every surface of the room? Could this explain why I have nothing but failure now?
Thank you.

What did you use for sub?
Did you have it in fruiting conditions?
It’s almost for sure the spawn when this happens.

That means you had dirty spawn.

So I have been obsessing it over being the spawn for 6 months now. I am fully aware that 90%+ of contaminated tubs are because of bad spawn.
To make sure that it wasn't my spawn, I went and got a jar from my buddy who has been making tubs without any problem and has had no contamination whatsoever. Then I did an extremely clean and perfect job doing a grain to grain transfer. This is how I am sure.
So I started obsessing it over being my substrate for a while. I went out and bought a meat thermometer and made sure I got the substrate between 140° and 160°, for 1 hour. Just used a basic 8 cups vermiculite, 16 cups of water 1 brick co co and handful of gypsum recipe. So now there's definitely no problem with the substrate.
Which is why the last thing has to be the fact that the room has had probably 10 or 15 tubs full of trich in it.
