Does size matter (for petri dishes)

I recently purchase some petri dishes online to make some agar plates. However, they're much smaller (35x10mm) than I had expected. Is it possible to use these in anyway or am I better off throwing them out and getting properly sized plates? If I do need bigger plates, any particular size, kind, or site you'd recommend?
On an unrelated note, how do you all tend to get a single drop out of a syringe? Most of the teks I've seen recommend a drop or two but I seem to get a full 0.5-1.0 ml every time I try.

I think the issue you'll run into with smaller plates is that you won't have as much room to let things grow, so any potential contamination is going to be that much closer to good mycellium making it more difficult to take clean transfers.
As far as getting a single drop out, I'm not great at it either. What I've heard of some people doing is squirting a bit of your spore solution into a shot glass that's been cleaned with iso, then dipping an inoculation loop in that. It does seem like an extra vector for contams, but may be worth a shot.

You can get a single drop by using smaller needles, like in the 25gauge or something. Im not sure about the syringe needle metrics. Just get a small needle and gently push the syringe, it will form a small sphere of solution at the tip of the needle, keep pressing until it drops, you sure can get a single drop this way.

Ah, that must be a big part of it. Would I just buy a smaller needle online and then swap them on the syringe? Is there any concern about fit or contam in doing that?

Just open the syringe and needle packets inside your SAB and its nothing to worry about really.
