Scam Call

I just got a call where a recorded voice told me my Amazon account has been charged $60 and If I didnt make it press 1 to cancel it (it didnt specify which amazon account which was also fishey)
I recently ordered something international off Amazon so even though I was pretty sure it was a scam just in case I didnt hang up and I checked both my Amazon page and credit card statement
I recently ordered those k95 masks from the link that was going around here, and I got a recorded voice call from UPS telling me I had to pay border fees, so I thought it was possible something like that was going on
nothing weird going on with my Amazon account or CC statement, I was going to press 1 just for fun, but by then the phone was disconnected, I think if it was official it would have kept repeating like the UPS call I got
So I dont really know what the scam was, but that was kinda strange
the number was 1-916-659-8648 if anyone is curious

Wankers.

I stayed on the line for one of them once. Some guy with an Asian accent answered. When he heard my British tones he hung up immediately.
I think it's great that we live in a world where we are constantly bombarded through every communication channel available with attempts to scam and steal from us.
Like, really. Yay humanity. Great job. Etc.

Scammers are getting really clever. The email ones these days are ridiculous. Shit from Netflix, Amazon, credit card companies, ect. They seem so legit too. Of course I check every address and report them but it really makes me wonder how many folks wouldn't know even know to check if the address is legitimate. Mostly older, less computer savvy people obviously. It's pretty sick. I voip'ed a popup scammer once just to talk shit and his rationale was that it's just a job. Disgusting individuals, imo. But, I don't live in a third world country..

This always strikes me as the "frog in the boiling water" idea.
If someone were to walk up to you and reach in your purse or pocked to steal your money, you would be extremely mad, call the police, somebody's going to jail...
Yet that's exactly what happens every time we get a scam e-mail or phone call. For some reason, we've gotten used to it, so we just brush it off.
If we demanded justice for this BS, it could be stopped. All of those scams could be stopped if we really wanted it.

It brings money in to third world countries. The positive impact it has on their economy probably outweighs the negative one on ours.. if I'm being honest. Not saying it's a good thing it just sounds like a reasonable assumption.

Voice over Internet protocol
It means I called them but I wasn't dumb enough to use my own phone. A digital burner number

some times they get massive amounts of money from old people, I saw one youtube video where they investigated one old lady who was scammed and at the end of the video they gave her back the tens of thousands she was scammed for and all the comments were saying how the old lady couldnt tell what just happened and she thought she was getting the money back from the scammer and not the youtubers, and that she was likely to just be scammed for the money again cause she was planning to contact the scammer again

my mom does that and it drives me crazy, I was waiting for a call from my ODSP case worker and she got scared of the caller ID because it said "Ontario Government" and didnt answer it, I had to call back and wait another business day for them to call back
also when my k95 masks were stuck at the boarder no one picked up the phone when UPS called from a weird number, luckily I picked it up and got my masks
just pick up the stupid pone, if it ends up just being bullshit just hang up

I get the scam calls from india where they say they are the IRS and a criminal investigation going on with my SS number etc. I thought it was funny to fuck with them at first but after thinking about it, how sad is it that people in india have it bad enough that they wind up getting & working a fake "job" with a scam organization as if thats the best they can get. That makes me feel bad

Your birth certificate has expired. Please send social security number and a bank account # with 900 dollars available to pay fees for being bad.
And don't do it again.

Hebrews 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
