New Nvidia 3000 Series Graphics Cards 1

So on the 1/9/2020 Nvidia released information for their next generation of GPUs.
Some videos;
Soooooooooooooooooooooooooo,
Anyone else thinking about upgrading?
As for me, I am seriously thinking of getting the 3090 as it would be a great card for my current gaming needs and also hopeful be the same GPU (has 24 gigs of video ram!!!) that I'll use in my next computer build (5-10 years away).
For those who are into pc, what's your thoughts/plans concerning upgrading to your next GPU?

At this moment raytracing dosen't do anything for me so i'll have to wait and see if it's worth it or not. But what i do want is to play games at 4k at max settings and these new cards should/will make that happen.
One thing that has come up on YT has been about PCIe3.0 motherboards and wheter one could use these new cards with them.
I was happy to find out that in most cases it will be fine so that's good to hear, plus i don't think 4k at 60 frames will overload a PCIe3.0 slut.
I've just gotta start saving.
btw, i currently have a GTX 1660 Super (fine for 1080p, but I want 4k).
Are you going to upgrade to one of these new cards?

1650 here. 1050p. Great for the pricing, but if you're spending more than half your activity time on games, not so cool...

I had a look at your card on the net and it seems like a decent card
Do you play games at 1080p or 1440p?

Crysis Remastered just came out and the NVIDIA RTX 3080 can still barely play it at Full graphics on an 8K monitor!

I have a 1080 and I'm planning to get a 3090 at some point soon. I'm currently limited to my 144hz 1080p screen though.

So far nothing has beaten up my 980GTX, so I'm good for a while. Can't afford a 3K series anyway.

That link you provided wasn't for the 3080, it's for the RTX Titan, the most powerful/expensive gpu of the current generation (excluding the new 3000 series).
From what I've seen and learned on youtube, the 3080 for the most part, is capable of 4k at 60fps (or more) at max settings for most if not all current AAA games and the games just around the corner like Cyberpunk 2077 (I can't remember if that was with Raytracing enabled or not). So it's the card to go with for those who want to play a 4k max settings. I do think that the 10gigs of vram is not enough though.

Honestly it just doesn't seem like a good time to buy the card. I guess if you really wanted to spend the extra dollar and not have to upgrade later, but honestly is it really that big of an upgrade from a 2060-2080 series and worth the $?

I must admit that since first making this thread I have watched a lot of videos about the 3000 series cards and im actually somewhat disappointed with the 3080 and especially the 3090 performance.
Nvida should have made new cards that could handle any and every games without breaking a sweat (even at 4k). This would have made it possible for game makers to in the next year or so years to make big improvements in graphics and complexity and size of games. As it is, when I eventually get a 3080 or 3090 most new games will play at 4k 60fps at max settings, but it won't be long before I'll have to start decreasing the settings as newer games come out. I could be wrong though as i don't know enough about raytracing and dlss and how turning those settings on or off will affect 4k max settings frame rates?
On a side note, I went shopping the other day and as i was making my way through the shop i heard two older gentlemen (in their 50's or 60's) talking about the 3080!!!! I found that funny. Unless they were talking about some old person medication ?!?!

Hello guys.
So I plan to eventually get a 3080 but won't bother trying to get one until mid next year, I hope by then Nvidia release a 3080 with more vram but if they don't then ill just get the 10gig one.
So as some of you may know, the 3070 has recently launched and AMD have also announced their new gpu lineup (videos below)
3070
and
AMD new GPU's
Have a good day/night

Not thinking years down the road. Getting one very soon. I can run anything on my laptop yet it can almost burn my hand. So PS5 and new gaming laptop. No desktop. Like to be mobile when this fucking covid ends.
Will see the best graphics card with a price within reason and it is going to be a pain in the ass to download and transfer all my games over but so goeth life.
Have an amazing new t.v. and watching some news on third world countries and is so amazing how advanced some countries are and some are like they are from the stone age.
Year of Covid, way to much streaming and endless gaming. Still, life is good, what can I say? I can't save the world.
Have a Nvidia GEFORCE 940MX which is ancient. Surprised all the new games I buy on it will actually run on it without lowering the graphic quality. Have to put a fan by it. Surprised it hasn't given out yet.

Yeah it's surprising. Just go back to Doom 2016 and it will smash it, it even gets on top of Doom Eternal at times. But 1080p is really, really bad. Even typing right now is annoying (I have really good corrected vision).
Anyone else think though, these engines have miles to go. I used to think we were getting close to photorealism, but without 4K at least I think you're looking at using a lot of imagination still.
1650/1660 won't do these modern ones comfortably at highest settings, even 1080p.
I don't know. You got a point but it depends how serious you are. A serious gamer needs 4K imo.

The thing is 1660 ti can do 4k Ive seen it many times, but you also run into over heating issues, crashing, 10fps
I would buy a 3070 jus to do 4k I dont think you'll ever need a 3090 for anything ever

My 6gig 1660 super can play older games at 4k max settings. I was able to play Borderlands 2 at 4k with 98% of the settings at max @ 60 fps, It's a good card . For 4k modern titles, I think you need a 3080 minimum for max settings at 30 - 60 fps. I'm waiting for a 3080 super or something like that cause I don't think that 10gigs of vram is enough.
As for raytracing, I think it's the wrong time for Nvidia to want to implement it into mainstream gaming, maybe in 5 to 10 years, but right now, current pc hardware is not really up to the task in my opinion, hence why they need things like dlss. Which is why when I eventually get a 3080 or 3090, I will not be turning on RT or dlss.

Well guys, I did it!!!!
I got myself a 3080. I was hoping to get a 3080 with more vram but that could be another year away (or more!!), so I had the chance to buy one and I did. I tried Borderlands 3 last night at 4k max settings with a capped 60 fps and what can I say, it looks and plays very very good . Even though I got it at a computer shop, I still paid more then the recommend retail price. Unfortunately GPU makers have been putting up the price , and here in Australia it's even more. A 3090 is selling for $3600 au dollars ($2777 us), that's at a pc shop, not a ebay scalper!!
Other then the price, I'm so far happy with the 10g 3080 and should the need arise over the next few years (as games get bigger/better), I'll just drop back down to 1440p max settings.
If you can get a card?, I'd say get it, as you just don't know in these crazy times when you'll get another chance .
